New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Yes Goodison could be quiet but post pandemic the atmosphere picked up and there was a lot more effort made. If that penalty shootout would have been at Goodison it would have been intimating for the opposition. Today it was so silent when the players walked down to take their kick. It's not the stadium design though, it's a supporter issue.
All you need to do to confirm that the issues with the atmosphere is not a stadium design flaw is look over and listen to the away fans. Sunderland fans at today's game were vocal throughout the game (granted they did have an abnormally large following), Brentford fans were loud despite not bringing a full allocation and other clubs' supporters - including fans of what appears to be a doomed Wolves side - have bought an atmosphere to the new ground. Yes, you can say that it is common for away fans to sing more but that argument will only get you so far.

Back at Goodison, we (more or less) had our most vocal supporters sat in the Lower Gwladys Street, positioned behind the goal. I sat in that area of Goodison for six seasons (I have took one season off due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and fans would sing more often and for longer during the match than I have witnessed so far at Hill Dickinson, sometimes regardless of the performance. One of the reasons I would suggest for the loss of atmosphere could be the fracturing of that vocal support, previously positioned in the Lower Gwladys Street, when the window for season ticket renewal opened for the new stadium.

If we can somehow get a core group of vocal supporters back together, we could generate an atmosphere to both intimidate our opponents and better visiting supporters. As I have alluded to, I think away fans have demonstrated how loud the stadium could be if the atmosphere were to pick up in all corners of the ground.

This image sums up the problem with the South Stand for me. Big disconnect between the upper and lower sections. It's such a shame it couldn't be the actual blue wall they promised.

I can't be the only person who thinks the away fans are so much louder at the new place

This tells us the stadium design is meeting it's brief of projecting the sound properly.

If one corner can produce that noise, imagine what we could do with the rest.

Things will likely improve when people find their comfort zone with those around them and continue to settle in.

Things had got a lot better just prior to this run of players out and poor form. Bit more excitement on the pitch as opposed to sideways passing will get the place rocking

Take it you didnt read the memo!

Stick to the roof is the wrong shape/away supporters are in the wrong place/too much hospitality/not enough holes in the dock wall/the rake of the stands is too steep etc etc* agenda.

* delete whatever doesnt apply

I think euro campaign would be a great achievement for this year but problematic for next. Our squad just isnt big or strong enough yet.

I don't think we'll make Europe but we'll just have to do adapt if we do. It'll be great for the club.

In the 2nd half of this season I think plenty of us will actually bemoan the lack of games, especially when the international breaks kick in followed by FA Cup weekends. It'll actually be difficult to give a lot of players a game when they're all back fit.

We'll all be happier when Everton don't play.
