New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

If English football hadn't been commercialised and moved with the times in the 1990s then we'd have been left behind. Paul Gascoigne, Des Walker, David Platt etc were all leaving for the better wages abroad in a country that was one step ahead.
I carefully included 'globally' in my post, because I understand that if there's the broadcasting money elsewhere but not here, then the overall quality will drop.
I don't think, as a whole, that more money in the game is a bad thing, but personally it's gone too far. It's too expensive to go to matches, players, managers and agents earn far too much, and the difference between the top 2/3 teams has grown massively as a result. Same goes for the gap between PL and Champ, etc. It's all due to broadcasting money, and the rule that broadcasters have over the game.

With so many games on TV, I (as a non-STH living in Surrey) should be excatic with the amount of matches I can watch live this season. But I'm not. Personally, I found the couple of Sunday games, plus a late kick off on Satruday, a good balance. Still 5-6 games all happening at the same time on a Saturday, which made the whole league more exciting in my opinion. Along with following our score, I'd also be keeping an eye on the table as goals go in in the other games being played. I don't actively watch any other matches, and because games happen at random times over a 4-day period now, there's little point looking at the league table as half the teams are a game behind or ahead. I'll forget when other teams are playing on a random night, because I don't care about watching them.
And it pains me this season to see so many empty seats at BMD. Perhaps that's exacerbated by posts on here mentioning it, but it doesn't reflect well on us IMO, and I'm 99% sure there would not be the same gaps all over the stadium if 60%+ of games were at 3pm Saturday.

It feels slightly hypocritical to say that some Sky money is good, but this much is bad, but that's how it feels. It's been shifting for a while, but the respect in the game for the fans feels now so far gone that it can't be ignored. Have I had my head in the sand, as a distant supporter? Probably

Spot on imo.

Asside from the Arsenal match, which was moved twice for TV and ended up being played at 8pm on the Saturday before Christmas, so was understandably an unpopular fixture, the two games with most availability on the resale site this season so far have been Villa and Fulham which were both Saturday 3pm ko.

Interesting. I wonder what the actual stats would look like for actual capacity per game (rather than seats 'sold'). I fully expect that fewer people would/could make an 8pm Monday game than a 3pm Saturday - for the reasons mentioned in this thread, and the ticket/request/sales thread here.

Why is it that Liverpool allow their fans to forward tickets to their 'friends and family' without any membership but Everton charge us for the same thing?

It's all Sky's fault. Those STH's who've followed us through thick and thin for many years never expected a Wednesday night game this season. Utter woke nonsense, only there to please the tv companies. I mean, since when was every game not on a Saturday at 3pm? Game's gone.
I know mate its absolutely ruining it for match going fans

Its why I always defended, and advocated StubHub. Most games you could get a ticket below face value, often a lot below.

There's no perfect solution.
Although born in L4, I've spent most of my career overseas. On my trips back I always tried to ensure it coincided with a home game and StubHub was a godsend. You're correct in that some fans would list tickets at well below face value, but even then there were spivs trying it on - there were people who immediately listed every game for re-sale, at a premium, especially the Derby, Man U etc. It was almost a reaction from decent Blues who would list tickets if they genuinely couldn't go at such a discount to try to put these spivs out of business.

It is not beyond the wit of the club to own the digital platform their tickets sit on. (Ticketmaster Sport currently do it). Therefore they could easily facilitate a StubHub-like facility, with an admin fee (like StubHub levied) to cover their costs. Everton used to be the beacon club for innovation, but now with the different culture of ownership etc. it's a pipe dream I'm afraid.

The regulation around ticket resale are just about to get really stringent. It will be illegal to resell tickets above face value. I suspect companies like StubHub and Viagogo will pull out of the UK market, whilst Ticketmaster, See Tickets and in house sales platforms will continue. The club basically do have their own resale platform but they restrict access to it to paid members only, for some reason.
