New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Early doors in this whole stadium thing the Lucas Oil Stadium didnt get too many boos, couldmit be that weve all let ourselves run away with our expectations

Happily I don't think it'll be anything like that which I personally find quite ugly due to the cost of building in brick.

IIRC, when all this kicked off, and the plans for GP/L4 post EFC were announced, wernt the businesses dependent on matchday traffic promised first dibs on sites at BMD?

Not a clue Mate but county road is a bit away from the dock road, so if they left for the docks then county road will be a bit vacant.

I expect it will be ok, giant plastic tiles with mock brickwork patterns will come to our rescue.

Ten quid per role at B&Q.

Yeah, fair point.

..it would be interesting to see what businesses are dependent on match days for income, based on the fact that games take place once per fortnight and not at all in summer. I imagine pubs and chippies might be impacted but surely they can’t be totally dependent on Everton.

Well not totally, but the regular matches for 10 months of the year might be the difference between ticking over, and going bust.

Like I doubt The Wimslow is as rammed on a summers day that it is on a Tuesday night league cup match in November.

..it’s a good point. The matches probably do make the difference between survival and going under.

40,000 folk buying beer and chips every 2 weeks in an area that probably 90% wouldnt otherwise choose to buy said beer and chips from.....if I had a business there, I would have concerns.

..and when i think about it, I drop my son off for away matches at The Brick on County Road at 7am and they have a few pints before the coach leaves. They get dropped back there and have another few.

Pretty much this. On a small aside my son and I go to the same chippy for last 10 yrs or so. And got to know them very well. The owner told me near the end of last season that if Everton move he’s pretty much screwed and relies an incredible amount on the regulars before and after the game of which I’m one I feel for him but life trundles on.

He probably runs along ok in the week, and the summer, but the football crowd gives him his cash flow boost every week or so.
