First window - changed manager and followed his lead on recruitment not being needed to stay up - proven right.
Second window - oversaw massive squad churn and invested to improve the first team, with players who will retain / grow in value - so far we are the most improved team from last year (based on like for like points)
This window remains to be seen but I’d rather recruit quality at value than gap fillers who are at a premium - got to keep an eye on PSR
Their plan has been to steady the ship and progress as a club this year which is on track despite the shocking results this week.
I will judge them after next summer

I hope the club are a bit more honest with themselves when they assess transfer windows. If they just pat themselves on the back like this, for a job well done, then we are going to have big problems.

When kids learn how to ride a bicycle, they must eventually get rid of the stabilisers.

This is where the Friedkins are now. They have been learning to run a Premier League football club. Time to get rid of The Stabiliser.

Hes been there 3 years and spent 400m. His highest points total is 56pts which moyes is on course to beat in his first full year in charge and seem to be struggling this season.

I genuinely dont see the big deal with iraola. Hes literally just came into the league thats about big, strong, fast and athletic players. He's bought big, strong, fast and athletic players and told them to run round like lunatics and press high. He hasnt reinvented the wheel. Its the same thing glasner has done at palace. What brentford have done ect.

What im bothered about is why were the only club in the league that refuses to buy the type of player this league is built on! Why dont we buy strong, fast players?

Barry is one of our fastest players and he got legged by 33 year old dan burn when he had a 2 yard head start on him the other week.
And he recouped the same amount in sales, so basically he’s spent nothing. It’s hard to keep making progress as a club when you keep selling your best players as Brighton are currently finding.

Barry - no
Dibling - definitely no
KDH - yes
Travers - who knows
Aznou - probably not, but hard to tell
Rohl - definitely not

I don't see any real argument that our recruitment was even decent. I think the only reason it's discussed so much is because we all don't want to admit we massively overrated and got carried away by our summer window. It was a 3 or 4 out of 10 at best in reality.
Yep...and those like myself expressing their opinions on the poor recruitment during the summer window were flagged as "bedwetters". The lack of urgency and strategy was very poor...the only saving grace for them is the fact that the recruitment team was new and in fact some did not even yet get to start their job then. Since the summer, there are no excuses as they all have been in the job for months. This is a huge window for the recruitment team because of the narrative it will create. Do nothing and they could find themselves with a huge fans backlash. We need europe if we want to keep the likes of ndiaye or Branthwaite, so this is a critical window in that respect.

Zero Standards, Zero Ambition.

That's been our imo for years.

We have a new stadium, fans paying top dollar every game but the product on the pitch is underwhelming.

The board needs to back the manager this January if they want European football. Moyes for me is safe because he has credit from last season but I am not happy with the lack of recruitment in defence and forwards.

This season was always going to be up and down with the squad we have but the owners need to make a big decision on what the plan is going forward.

The fact we havent had any players brought in is a major worry for me from our owners tbh. We need two new fullbacks desperately, who should of been brought in on January the 1st.

We had a chance of pushing for Europe and if they'd done there job and done that we'd be looking at 2 extra points on the board and maybe still in the fa cup.

What worries me is when TFG took over roma they spent big in the first summer then pulled all of the funding out of the club. Mourinho was left selling all of their best players and signing frees for the next two years.

And in a league where Bournemouth have spent 400m in the last 3 years and Brighton can drop 250m in one summer transfer window and the likes of liverpool can spend near 500m in one summer. Spending what we spent in the summer is literally the bare minimum that we need to spend every summer.

Thats fallacy though isnt it?

Every team apart from the very top has to sell their best players and reinvest. Especially with how psr works now. Teams whole business models rely on it.

And this idea that hes spent nothing because hes sold players is nonsense as well. Spending money is spending money

We're pretty much on track for the same points and position as last year so any progress is pretty limited.

Hopefully we sign a few full backs at least this month.
Indeed. Talk of on track for 56 points (minus the players who contributed to that beginning of season) is fanciful at this time. We are back to a target of 40 and ever so slightly looking in the rear view mirror again.

Angus what’s his chops set the measure for success earlier in the season I think. Over a third of new signings playing in over 50% of the games. Seems a low bar to me but I expect them to review against it and plan to improve each year

What, you think we will only get 11 points in the remainder of the season. What’s this based on?

One win in last 8 is a good leading indicator. KDH isn’t back until late Feb so another 5 games without his influence. Ndaye, Gana will have fatigue post afcon, we now have two suspensions to contend with too.

If one win in 8 form persists for the remainder of the season, it will be tight.

I wish people would stop crediting the friedkins for replacing dyche.

They were going to back him in the window, it was dyche saying he couldn’t take the team forward.

If it was up to Dan and co, Dyche would still be managing the club.
