This is a great read and when you look at the amount of choice, quality and variation Crystal Palace fans offered their supporters, then it makes the 3 we have come up with as amateurish.

This has never been in any doubt to me once they had the pretend survey and faux consultation.
Tell you what, one thing I've realised with this whole badge thing is that it really doesn't matter.
The new badge is sh*te obviously. But when we score I don't give a sh*t. When we pulled Lukaku out of our arse on deadline day I didnt care a jot. When Fulham beat us nobody was blaming the badge.
There's about a million more important things than this.

It matters to me. Dunno quite how to explain it. It's particularly baffling when there was no one complaining about the old one. The club decided to change it for a series of commercial reasons, most of which will not be met by next years crest. Looking at that pic of this years away with one of the new badges just hammers it home, you can hardly make the badge out. The club have waisted everybody's time and we will end up with a worse crest than when we started. So frustrating!
I think the one aspect it does meet is that nothing is outside the crest and thus won't be left out by the media.
That's what this has been all about from the start. That's why they made the decision originally to change the crest - because 'Everton' and to a lesser extent '1878' kept being left out. Sure, they'll throw in a load opf guff about 'modernising it' but that's a red herring. The club wanted to protect their brand, and to do that they wanted to make sure the name 'Everton' was inside any new crest.
