Playing like a true Captain, hes never gonna be a flashy player, but hes really impressed me this season, at RB and in his new DM role, take a bow Captain Pip.

I think he and Arteta are a good balance in the centre and play well together. To be fair hes been great for almost all of last and this season, turning point of the season that tackle against Ronaldo.

Playing a captians role.

He was inconsistent last year and I was starting to get pissed off with his golden boy like status at the club. He was playing poorly and staying in the team, it just wasn't fair on other players.

Now he's playing like a proper captain. He's consistent, his distribution is improving and he's playing really well. Good on him, he's always seemed like a nice lad and he's always given his all. Just needed to improve his performances and he's done that.

I really like Nev, has anyone else noticed he never seems to be injured!

Can we plaese ban him from releasing press quotes though! A career in politics beckons!

It helps him having Arteta there because he can keep things simple when he has the ball. His positional play has always been good and he covered really well today for the full backs when they bombed on.

Think he's a great captain for Everton. Not the most gifted player, but he does a good job for us. I'm surprised by his progress as a DM though.

Being able to play the same position for a few weeks - ie one that relies on his strengths rather than simply filling in a weak spot in the team, seems to have given him some momentum.

Good player and a model professional who has worked hard where others might have coasted into retirement. I have no doubt that he will also make an excellent coach.

That said I still have real problems regarding him as an Everton player.

Short of him partaking in some sort of messianic blood letting ritual at full moon in front of the Dixie statue he's always going to be some ugly tw*t we got cheap from United because he wasn't his brother.

Desperately unfair on him I know, but what can I do?

He's been a revelation this season,His passing and crossing have improved no end,the willingness to get forward is a sure sign of his renewed confidence,as someone said earlier a model professional.
