Big presumption Grealish will be here next season.

There was me thinkjng that was the essence of the question...

Will either of them still be Everton players next season?

See above :)

Think if we get Europe Skilliman will hang around for another season to see where we’re heading.
As for Grealish, I agree not sure TFG have the appetite to drop what’s likely going to be a £40m investment without a possibly future ROI.
However, if we get Europe he’s certainly the sort of player that would significant improve our chances of silverware, but at going on 31 there will be a huge question mark over risk of injury.

£40mil ? Transfer fee?

It would take a lot to make it make sense to me at £20mil when we've got a superior player for the left.

As @Neiler says its slightly odd we haven't offered a new contract to him as a bit of a 'protective cloak' given his form and with a World Cup ahead. Can't you send one of your famous dm's to the club and tell them to get a move on with it mate

Also not got moving on one for Mykolenko it seems, despite the talk.

You'd expect we'd be protected him as an asset while Ndiaye still has 3 years on his. Perhaps both extended before the summer.

Based on this season , who is the more productive player ?

I'm not into stats but I'd guess that Grealish has more assists and N'dayie more goals.

If Grealish had played the full season I suspect that he would have as much if not more goal involvements.

Grealish draws more fouls but slows the play down more.

Both are very hard working defensively .

Different types of players . Illiman goes past defenders and gets me off my seat , he's a far more exciting player. Jack picks a pass.

I like both. If I had to chose it would be Illiman. Clearly his wage will be a fraction of Jack's.

I think Illiman is better on the left than right but it's not a massive drop off if he plays on the right.

Clearly and obviously there's room for both.

However I do think that the mooted deal for Jack makes no sense whatsoever for us.

For that fee and wages we could surely do better.

For a fee of around 20 million and with wages at say £150 k per week I'd sign him though.

Play Ndiaye wherever you want.

Controversial, but Ndiaye has proven be can be effective with no overlapping fullback

I thknk its massively important for Grealish game to have one. If we can't, I wouldnt sign him. You've got a great opportunity to create a Baines/Pienaar II if you can get Grealish a fullback who can overlap.

But surely we'll be signing an overlapping full back, right?
Not while seamus draws breath we won’t

He bought a box for 3 years. He will 100% be here if we can do the right deal

Moshiri has a box to I believe mate.

But fingers crossed.

One thing we can sell is the club is moving in the right direction, it’s really only CL football and a bigger wage that can turn his head - the second w can be competitive on, but the la k if word on a new deal as his profile increases-has me suspicious.

I think there's more chance Ndiaye isn't here than Grealish tbh.

Nobody in the Champions League places is going to want to buy Grealish with the arguable exception of Aston Villa. Once you are past that, we aren't going to be massively out-spent by anyone else.

City don't want him, so there will be a deal to be done to get as much of his wages off their books as they can and as things stand it's hard to see (other than possibly Villa) where our real competition is for signing him.

Plus wages.
My point being if we sold Skilliman in the summer (hopefully not) we would likely recoup not just his transfer fee, but the majority of his wages to date as well.

With Grealish, I’d expect a 3 year deal (min 2) and absolutely all of the contract and wages would be sunk at the end of that contract.

Agreed. I'm quite surprised that posters want us to sign Grealish based on:

A: the money involved
B: that he's not as good as Ndiaye for us

Grealish's future is linked to Moyes's future in my opinion mate, i can see both signing three year deals, albeit Jack will need to swallow a wage reduction if he wants to come here.

I think if TFG decided to move away from Moyes, then Grealish would be an unwise move, hes at that high cost/age profile were he becomes a millstone if he doesn't fit or isn't happy under a new manager.

Im a bit conflicted on signing him permanently if im honest, hes high quality, very marketable and great around the team but i feel he slows us down and i think hes on the waine - i say that after watching him as a teenager for Ireland even before he got in the Villa team, there are some things he cant do anymore and has had to adapt his game for - if thats what we want fine - but if there is a different profile in the market for a lad coming into his own - then i think there is a decision to be made.

Very good and balanced post ;)

Oh 100%, if TFG move Moyes on then I'd say all bets are off on Grealish but the likelihood of Moyes moving on this summer doesn't feel high at the moment, to me at least.

Re the playing side of things - I understand what you're saying - he's 30(?) now and has had to adapt his game a bit, but he has genuine quality and while he can slow us down, he's also far more creative than pretty much any other player we have and he seems to get more out of other players, KDH in particular.

In any side you want a balance of younger players and more experience - I think going all out for younger players, as Chelsea have done for example, is never going to get you where you want to be, but equally you don't want to be in a position of having an entire team of 30 odd year olds, there have been times in the last we've got dangerously close to that, so the age profile is fine to have reservations about, but I can live with a 3 year deal if it's balanced out by younger profile signings - in fact it was last summer, we just haven't seen much of them 😬
