So overwhelmed by the sheer volume of evidence, you've run away* rather than take a moment to find some.
Ha! Evidence? Forget the shine-box, scuttle off and compile a pie-chart.
If you were truly interested in facts you would educate yourself but you are too far gone.

If you haven`t woken up to the stark reality of what`s going on by now you never will no matter what evidence is presented to you- even when a jack-boot is crashed into your fat bottom and repels you into your cell you will still refuse all the evidence.

*#IWentSleepyByeByes or you bored me into a stupor- take your pick, they`re both valid.

Not quite from my example, more recognising that there is a social care problem and that better cross sector working or involvement was needed.

It's long been a problem that the NHS hoovers up the cash and the wider health and social care ecosystem gets neglected. It's always been there, but certainly needs more funding and was open to trying to develop evidence based interventions for those feeling isolated, or with low mood, mild depression in older age.

Certainly wasn't to supplant NHS Services. Prevention, I.e. helping stop low mood and so forth becoming more serious. Which then needs your more intensive specialist approach.

Well, thats the theory.
Just coincidence that prevention work was reduced when big society was rolling out and now stopped with Mental health service managed by Local Authority and NHS which now just deal with crisis management now, which are now overwhelmed.
Looked good on paper and its where it should stayed big society. Prevention is better than cure, apparently not if it costs... We will get a measure of people sincerity when taxes will have to rise further to fund services appropriately in the coming years.

Well we've already seen the response when NI was put up. Admittedly it corresponded with inflation and high energy prices etc, but yeah, folk get upset at funding things.

Oh, I'm not 100% sure of your point here. Not being funny, just not clear to me. Are you saying local authorities have purposely stopped preventative work now?

Still got nothing then. Not surprising

Has anyone heard anything from Amanda Pritchard during all of this? (does anyone even know who she is?)
Oh, we ain't gonna hear from her. No way will she upset the cushy gig she has.
I mean what can she say, come out against the government? See ya later,. No more £300k job.
You would hope she is doing a lot behind the scenes, but I can well imagine she has been told to shut up in public.

Pretty much all NHS comms at a time like this is completely controlled by DHSC.

Big Society (3rd Sector ) was brought into mask austerity, to reduce the role of the state, so when budgets were being reduced from 2010 it's preventative that goes first. Preventive work is always the first to go as it's hard to measure. And the biggest example of this country wide was the end of sure start centers.

Community Mental Health Teams are staffed by NHS and local Authority workers there budgets were cut so they move to crisis management where bean counters can see clearly see the beginning to end of a budget sheet.

Now we are seeing that Big Society is not there hence crisis management of many services, and NHS and Social Care was really an issue before pandemic. Events since 2020 have just brought about an inevitable crises much quicker. Between 300 and 500 people a week people are now dying unnecessarily well before their time. Big society or whatever fandangled term they use now was and will never be able to pick up the slack of services cut by Austerity.

Inappropriate Behaviour
I believe the original inference was that the number of migrants was contributing to the demise of the NHS. As they are typically of an age that contributes more in taxation to the NHS than they consume in services, it is actually the opposite. We need immigrants to actually pay for the NHS.
Very funny post if it weren`t for the fact that immigrants drain the already strained NHS. Do the math Epstein.

Okay mate, I'm with you. Yes, Big Society was tosh and I agree it was a smoke and mirrors exercise.

I just wasn't clear on what you were saying from the last post.

But to reiterate, the project I mentioned was not intending to use low paid or voluntary workers, it was a fully funded research grant to establish efficacy of a particular approach to improve well-being.

Part of the rationale for doing so was to be able to make the case for properly funded services across sectors. I.e. to NOT rely on voluntary sector etc.
