Much what is written in my day is in lunch with cheese sarnie in one hand...

Anyway, sad to write this, however, looking at the currently disastrous situation regarding social care… it makes me almost look back with rose tinted glasses of 1980s when many frail and vulnerable people - some with mental health, psychiatric problems or learning disabilities - were cared for in large institutions

Sadly, these “institutions” were deemed to be unsuitable or unsavory and rightly so in many cases, and born out this poor care was the concept of “care in the community”. However, it appears that care in the community does not actually work as intended due to underfunding and underresourcing.

Whilst long-term care hospitals and institutions may not have been perfect, they usually managed to care for their residents basic requirements - but sadly even those fundamental needs are remaining unmet due to shortcomings in social care settings and so these vulnerable people are now occupying acute beds in general hospitals which are needed by acutely unwell patients.
Again, it wasn't targeting those with more severe needs. But don't disagree.

Absolutely banned as well.
