.....I always think it's odd when parents give a child a weird spelling Christian name, suffice to say that every time they have to provide it as they grow up they will also have to spell it.

There's a kid called Brayden at my school. And that's one of the more normal ones.

Brayden is quite common over in the US. I know quite a few of the little buggers!

The worst I've heard is an 'in-law' family member who called their now 8yr old daughter Surreal! Seriously! What the actual is going on here?! Surreal? I joked and asked if they couldn't find a baby names book and just picked up the dictionary instead. Didn't go down particularly well.

It's a good, solid name but I hope it's soon shortened to 'Sam' And she only says 'samuel' when he's in big trouble.

My eldest gets that, in increasing volumes with a deeper voice each time he ignores me, which is quite regularly for a 7 year old...

When I was registering my son's birth the registrar told us she'd had to dissuade the last couple in from calling their son Dinosaur.

It would have worked well if their surname was Hunter, Bones or Fossil.
