He's the only other defensive mid in our squad so absolutely no chance he'll be sold in January. Those saying he's not good enough etc. have you really seen him enough to have any form of judgement? Lad has just come back from injury of course he wasn't gonna be involved at Villa.

Should have a decent bench on saturday!

Besic, Baines/Galloway, Mirallas, Naismith, Gibson, Lennon, Osman, Robles, Browning / Holgate, McGeady to choose from and Jags and Oviedo still out.

Don't think we have had that much strength on the bench in years!

He is always going to find it hard to break into the team while barry and jimmy mac are there but he is a natural replacement for barry.hopefully this season he gets alot of game time and takes over from barry then next year.

He can come back in 5 years and be a replacement for Barry cause he is nowhere near good enough to do so now.

Barry relies on experience, knowledge and a good footballing brain to play the role he does, Besis is a long way off being able to do what he does in the PL.

McCarthy? Sure, he could do that job or could play as part of a midfield 3.

But he ain't a decent replacement for Barry yet.

The biggest threat to Besic will probably come from our academy players. We know that Ledson is already playing competitive football and just seems to have taken to it seamlessly. Walsh is another that may be ready in a year or two or maybe even Williams.

I would not be surprised to see Galloway get some time in midfield as well as he continues his football education before settling into his preferred position.

I don't think any of us knows what the exact situation with Besic is because of his injury which was most unfortunate, has his discipline and positioning improved , is he really ready to give Barry a rest in a few games ?

Ya but barrys 34 now and he gained all that knowledge from playing.cant see him starting every game next year so why buy someone for that role when you have besic there.granted he is nowhere near the level of barry like you said but he has to start someplace.

No one in our squad is anywhere near Barry in his position - not many in the league even are at what he does for our team. We'll either look to buy in an experienced player of similar ilk or we'll go with Besic/Ledson/Cleverly and mix up how we play. Although I think Barry has another 2 seasons in him (if it's one game per week).
