Ahaha? I know that.

But I see him more as an attacking player as opposed to someone who would sit in the middle of the park and not really go forward as much.

As I say, I meant the basis of the side - otherwise I'm just naming my starting eleven. I only named Stones as a defender, yet we more than likely will use two centre backs - that doesn't mean I'd only play one defender.
Hmm, alright.

spine of the team is very important but fullbacks are essential !
I know - I feel my original point has been lost down the line. I'd always play Baines and Coleman, I was simply referring to the "down the middle, swashbuckling and battling" aspect of the side that's needed.

No mate. When I said spine of the team, I meant just that - the strong bit that goes down the middle and that boss bits are added to.

Otherwise I'd just be naming my preferred XI.
if your controlling a game you are better defensively, Ross has that potential from the center, to see him as just an attacking outlet, almost a luxury, is a waste of what he could become

I didn't put the level of thought into writing the original post, that others put in to analysing it.

I simply meant nitty gritty players.

That's not really what a spine of a team is, and I wouldn't put stones in that category, please put more thought in to your posts in the future mate
Jesus Groucho, you're having a shocker here.

Ah, smartarses.

BAAH!
