Thought it was a pretty pointless substitution really. He was needed against Leicester and Arsenal to freshen the midfield to defend a lead not a token appearance when you are getting beat 3-5.

I think at that point in the game all we could do was laugh at his back heel, harsh lesson for him to learn, I reckon he'll still be trying his flicks and tricks next chance he gets though. Meh, game was gone by then anyway.

I agree that the sub was pointness at the time it was made. Roberto hasn't been too hot with his changes more recently (not that Besic's mistake was his fault like).

the game was lost before he came on but I don't really understand why he would think flashy tricks would be appropriate in that atmosphere. Oh well lesson learned, we move on.

Utterly stupid thing to do regardless of the score or time in the game.

An experienced player who recently represented his country (and done well) in the World Cup shouldn't come on and attempt a stupid little back flick like that when a sensible pass is the only option.

It's not that it didn't come off. If he'd tried a normal pass and made a mistake of it that would be different, you'd say forget it and move on.

Players shouldn't do what he did in Sunday league games.

But, one stupid decision in a crazy game, plenty of time for him to prove it was a one off and he's not always that stupid.

Or that he's actually one of the best midfielders in the world
