Barry's fantastic but your comment is not true. The reason we have brought in Besic is purely because Barry and McCarthy wont play every game they are fit for. Barry sort of burnt out near the end of last season purely because he couldn't get any rest. But now he can.

It's all about horses for courses mate it's a squad game not a one player game.

This is also true. We were in a position to rotate the 3 AMs and thus able to rest and replace injuries. McCarthy and Barry played till they dropped and now as you say they can be assessed on fitness on rested when needed

Gibson was just as good as Barry before he got injured though.
Genuinely happy with the announcement of any of the 4 in the line up, although I want to see more of Besic before I can confirm he's as good as I hope he is.

Gibson was very effect in that role. His range of passing and control of the ball was exceptional. Before his injury i was enjoying seeing him each week. A very good footballer and such a shame he can't seem to stay fit.

Personally i think Barry is a step up from Gibson. In terms of ability and usefulness.

That's no slight on Gibson who is a very good footballer and i'm absolutely delighted he is back this season and i believe he will be very effective if he stays fit. Been a great buy for 500k even for the injuries.

Gibson is ace. He was one of if not our most important player the season before last.

If he does recover fully from the injury then we have the best midfield options we have had for a long time.

Oh that sucks. I heard that Martinez said he was due to play tonight, but it sucks if he doesn't play. I guess that's why Besic was purchased, we looked very light when we didn't have Barry to play against City.

I must have been watching different games to everyone else because Gibson seems a bit overrated by people on here. Decent all round midfielder but should never be a starter for a team challenging the top 4. Barry played at much higher level in most games last year than Gibson ever did.

Gibson was easily as influential as Barry. When Gibson was missing from the team the season before last it was very noticeable. Barry less so, but that may be negated by McCarthy's presence.
