Moyes curbs dreams of Europe

David Moyes says European football is a step too far for his Real Sociedad team right now.

The former Manchester United and Everton boss, who led the club to a respectable 12th place finish in La Liga last season, said: "Considering what we did last season, looking to Europe is a very big step.

"I hope we can do it but I don't think we have to have that expectation from the start."

We'll have live text commentary from La Liga on Saturday as Atletico Madrid host Las Palmas at 19:30 BST.

Typical always lowing expectations

Well, he's not wrong is he? It's like as if West Ham, finishing 12th, go "Yeah, we're gonna break into the top 6 no problem next season".

It's pretty much a realistic statement.

Yeah.

He's not lowering Sociedads expectations, he's keeping them exactly where they were.

It's not like he said it at Sevilla or someone.

Pretty sure that Sociedad were regular European contenders until last season.

Christ i just checked and you're right, they were struggling a bit when Moyes took over but i thought they had been rubbish for a while.

I was wrong, they were in Europe the previous 2 seasons.

They seem a bit of an all over the place club, sometimes winning la liga, sometimes top 4, sometimes lower half and sometimes relegated.

Since they came back to la liga they have finished 15, 12, 4, 7, 12.

So koff moist, yeah considering they finished 12th last year yet forgetting the were CL 2 years ago.

Even if so, "right now". Yeah, they're all over the place, but maybe he wants to build his own thing, rather than do a miracle one-off season, if that makes sense.

Either way, why am I defending him I fecking hated his last few years with us ffs.

Did they sign anyone?

They spent half the summer chasing Joel Campbell but either they were low balling or we are taking the pee. I'm inclined to believe the latter as Palermo have been getting the same problems trying to sign Campbell.

What ever happened to the Griezmann money from last year.

"WHERE'S THE GRIEZMANN MONEY, DAVID?"
-Sociedad fans, probably

Ambitious as ever.

Doom and gloom.
