Moyes 'The ungrateful irritant'

I'm a level headed guy and was very pro moyes (much to my derision for many a year on bluekipper). He came and saved this club from perennial relegation scares and turned us truly back onto the path to recovery. He did all the right things such as investing in youth, finch farm etc and was a brilliant ambassador for the club in the first few years meaning us blues could finally hold our heads up after one of the worst decades for the club. Despite Kenwright's constant need to drag us to the brink of disaster splodging our limited funds and even out future on ****e like the Kirkby deal... you at least felt, on the pitch, things were headed in the right direction.

Moyes made some astoundingly good buys (Lescott, Jags, Coleman, Baines, Howard) for a pittance! But as the price went up, they were less than impressive... AJ, Bily, Beattie, and couple more who's names escape me just now... Fellaini completely dumfounded me for a couple of seasons. My impression was 15Mill on this player was shear madness... but over the course of his stay (and considering we made 10 mill profit in the end) he was probably a good bit of business too. He turned rough diamonds into first class players. He made rough gems into good, disciplined, hard working, diamonds and did it so well.

I quaked at the thought of what would happen to us when he went. I was certain he would go, and I was also ridiculed for saying he would replace SAF four or five years ago. I saw him as a mini-SAF... determined, wouldn't suffer fools, demanded the highest levels of fitness and performance from every single player... he demanded respect. I was ****ting my pants when he finally went. I really wished he would have success when he left... almost to the point of making united my favoured of the top 4 to win the league. I wanted to see him be successful in europe after never really getting the chance with us. But ****... who is dimwit BK gonna saddle us with now? My biggest fear (apart from some really desperate choices like Stubbs/Weir) was Martinez. Ermmmm the guy just got wigan relegated.... cup wins are like getting 3 numbers on the lottery... mostly luck and ultimately forgotten within a few weeks :)

-------------> Fast forward 6 months.

What the **** just happened???!! This guy I had only respect for has spent the entire summer and autumn convincing me he is a prick! I think its a combination of trying to distance himself from us and wear his fancy new shoes more comfortably (though we can all see he is walking with a definite limp as they rub like a bitch). He has a huge media responsibility and real pressure on him. He is the definition of a rabbit in the headlights. I'm sure deep down he just wants to be on the training ground and thinking only of football.... but now he is broadcast around the world daily and every word is dissected in the full glare of a fanbase used only to success. See even now I am trying to make excuses for him!

But this manager who I saw as one of the classiest, trustworthy managers in england has turned into an utter ****! I won't repeat what every one else has already said, but statement after statement belittling us, stupid bids for players who I would have expected him to at least wait a year or so before trying to nick (just common decency for a man of such impeccable morales and respect right?), and a constant impression that we are ultimately some **** he stood in by accident whilst walking the red carpet up to his golden throne at the Vatican of Dreams have left me with an impression of a bitter scottish ****. He is out of his depth, he is panicking, and even given the chance in the press this week to say positive things about the club that ultimately made him the choice of the most successful manager in history... he just piles on the snark, and tries his hardest to convice everyone that Everton owe HIM and could you please start forgetting he ever soiled himself with work for such a little local club.

Well **** YOU! That was a ****ing giant bowl of humble pie delivered on Wednesday... in your ****ing face. We had a bit of luck, so did united at times, but you didn't outplay us, we were in your faces, playing football, and frankly all over you in the last 15 minutes or so. It can't be me being 'fickle'... I have sung your praises to so many people over the years that it is actually a considerable achievement to have managed to turn me this far, and so quickly. I don't think you will ever earn back your respect... and come to think of it... the more I look, the more I find holes in the "11 years we owe you". The ****house tactics I could understand in the early years with **** players ... but you have made me revisit the last 5 years or so and I see now why we never won anything and always failed on the big day.... YOU!

Agree with Moutsgoat, Sanctioned and Zircs posts.

One question for the others... after saying everything you can think of, correct or not, factual or opinion, to slam Moyes to the point your just constantly repeating yourselves. Do you not think its time to go fully positive for Martinez instead of lacing it all with negativity?
Is it not time to claim Barkley is simply a great young talent, instead of a great young talent Moyes wouldn't of played?
Isn't it time to be saying that was an ace win, instead of an ace win Moyes would of bottled and defended for the draw.... every single time we win!!! He did win some games you know.
Isn't if time not to be saying its better than it was...but instead to just be saying.....
Its absolutely fking ace right now... period.
Live in the moment, reflect on the past, get excited about the future, but stop drowning the present in the history of Moyes, it detracts from the beauty of what's currently happening.

As the saying goes:
Yesterday is History
Tomorrow is a Mystery
Today is a Gift, that's why
its called the Present!

Just enjoy the Martinez gift.

Nothing operates in a vacuum. We've just beaten our ex-manager and his new team after months of stuff like derisory bids, patronising comments ("I would have let them go to further their careers" or "they don't really need a manager"). His list of failures in the past 11 years (the away record at the Sky Four, the bottling it in big games, the negative tactics and lack of/head-scratching substitutions, the constant fawning over Kenwright) is background to the story. So we're going to crow about it for a few days. Don't worry though, your beloved Moyesiah will be forgotten in a few more days after we've added Wenger's scalp to our belts. But I'd book a spot on a deserted island for next April if I were you.

Obviously we should all remember that we´ll have a very similar situation with Martinez very soon. If he keeps on improving Everton like he has he´ll be off to a Champions league regular very quickly. Might even be Utd. We´re no less of stepping stone to him than we were to Moyes. Martinez obviously wants to go to the top just as much as Moyes did.

I'm genuinely scared that Arsenal could come knocking if Wenger decides to hang up his gloves any day.

When Martinez leaves, and he will (after at least a decade, hopefully), if he treats Everton with the respect the club deserves, then there won't be a problem.

Yay to all of that (y)

But it was not just a matter of transfers was it. It was the way he treated the club when he knew back in Xmas almost that he was leaving, so ho could he possibly be doing what was best for our club, going to Man U training ground while still under contract, his comments which for me have been disrepecful to our club and virtually presenting him as the victim!!

That was my point entirely mate, the lad I quoted said we should make a banner listing the derisory things he's said about us, like I say I am not one for banners normally, but it could open the eyes of a few who think we were just moaning because he left and tried to take Baines and Fellaini...
Like you say, there has been much more than that going on from him, but we are getting a bit of a poor name for booing him by those that havn't seen the extent of derision from the bloke since he left.
Not really bothered either way, just thought we made a good statement to Moyes, and he and the media have got the wrong end of the stick and are making out its just about the two transfers.

Don't disagree with your point, but using this logic, is this why your username is Ihaters (I hate red ****e) and not Iloveb (I love blues)?

Lol.. no.. All the positive ones I could think of were used already and I had just had a massive row an RS, just seemed appropriate at the time.

You can be a bellend about it all you like, but if you genuinely think that Moyes overshadowing Martinez has been going on for a couple of days, I can only assume you havn't logged on this season.

Alex Ferguson's autobiography said:
'He (Moyes) phoned me around February for some advice about his contract, they were pushing him to sign a new contract.
'I knew in myself I was going to retire, so I’m thinking If he signed a contract it would be more difficult for us.
'I said to him you’ve had ten years there that’s long enough, you’ll get a bigger club.
'I kept phoning him to make sure he wasn’t going to sign a new contract.
'We had to wait till the league was decided, once the league was decided I got David over to the house and I think he thought we were going to talk about his contract again, but I said look I want you to take over.'

Not one for banners normally but everyone seems to think the boos were because he bought Fellaini and went for Baines.
May open some eyes.
I think weve picked up an unjust bad rep as ungreatful fans because of it.

Honesrly, most believe it's that and the fact he left us and we're just bitter. Stopped bothering arguing now so many think we owe him loads

We're basically seen as the worst fans in the country by all neutrals I've spoken to because he 'did so much for us'

Just tell them the truth then
