But none of them were good ! Other than Carlo ,I hope you had just overlooked him .
He has better stats than every manager that has been relegated ever but that is just a fact that means nothing and has no relation to the state of the team he selects .He picks players like Dwight who trains well but when he has played this year he is mind numbing ,Alcaraz has played so many bad balls I fear he is not injured just being readied for sale ( that could be wishful thinking ) but he trains well ! Now we have seen Aznou who is not at all the finished article we can see there is life in the u21's but we all know Moyes would not have willingly played him .
And probably won't again until he has no choice.

But at the end of the day it's all about coaching your way of playing to players.

Apart from listing what club managers do as opposed to what national managers dont do, Ilve yet to hear a convincing dismissal of national management credibility.

It's not like they're playing different codes.
Off topic Dave

You will never understand logic.

Back to the Moyes Question..

What Moyes has in his favour is the squad is so depleted things should start getting better when players return.
True, but the problem is these players will return for matches against "proper big clubs". We've missed the boat. We had Burnley, Forest, Brentford, and Wolves - and dropped seven points. So, if we get back most of our main men, we will be facing better sides.

We've had our high point this season, in my view. A defeat to Villa means we are sinking. Then it's Leeds. A bad result there means we are in lower mid-table with the big boys still to play.

No point getting rid now. Hes done exactly what he was brought in to do. Take over from a manager who said he couldn't get anymore out a team circling the drain and stabilise the club.

Let's see how we get on when we have a fully fit squad to choose from and hopefully a couple of additions instead of piling in when we have to field a team that looks like it belongs in the championship.

Wanting Moyes gone is insane considering where we was before he came in. Yeah we are out the cups it’s January an that’s not good enough but when was the last time we all felt we wasn’t in a relegation fight in January. apart from this season first time I can be relaxed in years.

We're 12th now and we were 16th when he took over and still in the FA Cup. He then want on to meekly cave in to Bournemouth in last season's FA Cup.

If anyone is seeing a vastly different picture between Moyes this first half of the season and Dyche last season when he was here up to January then I dont get it.

Yes, we're well away from the relegation fight, but even at this stage last season the three below us were nailed on to go down. And the extra 11 points have been bought with the aid of £110M that the previous manager never got, btw.

Stay

We're suffering from a bad combination of Afcon, player suspensions and injuries. We're literally fielding youngsters, recalling players from loans and putting out makeshift squads to fill gaps.

We can't keep speed dating our managers and changing every year or two. For what it's worth I think Moyes has done a very good job since he joined and he's got us playing the best football we have in years.

With players like Grealish, Ndiaye, KDH and Barry I think we're seeing a new era that's not just attracting star players chasing a wage but quality players who really love our club, our fans and are in it for the long haul. And a manager who just is Everton all over, loves our club, knows how to play good football and takes no nonsense.

He isn't trying to play sustainable football so he has no long term future at the club. The football we've watched in the last week has no place in the modern game.

He hasn't got high enough standards either to push the club forward. He's way too accepting of bad performances and bad results

A manager who says he'll stick around until he feels he's done what he can to help us - as he did in his interview in the Guardian this week - should really be taking a long hard look in the mirror about his future here.

That's if he was being honest about wanting the best for the club, which I'm sure none of us really believes. He wants what's best for Moyes. That's why he backed Kenwright in his first spell here: he hates any change that can possibly destabilise him.

Getting rid of the manager now would be total insanity for obvious reasons. There's a case for considering the manager's position at the season's end, as he's on contract until the end of season 2027/28 and it's at least arguable that knowing the boss is leaving at the end of the season isn't ideal for players or the club as a whole. A lot depends on how we'll fare for the rest of the season - if it carries on like it's been for the last few games it'll be grim; on the other hand, the return of the Afcon players, KDH, Keane, Grealish & Branthwaite may well see us climbing up the table.

Injuries and unavailability aren't an excuse. They happen to every team. You even know in advance when the AFCON is

Serious clubs build an actual squad knowing that unavailability is inevitable. We lose players and all we get is excuses. It's such a terrible mentality and a lack of preparation. Good clubs don't write off matches because they are missing players.

Obviously you want your best players available but it's impossible to have them all every game. That's why squad players need to be actual capable players. Something we have ignored and fail to do for years.

Wasn't my point mate, just an observation on the post.

But if international management grabs your attention more than the league format, maybe your ambitions in management has gone off the boil.

2 people that went straight from us to that format, maybe we are a curse..

Koeman - not really a surprise, but
I wouldn't have thought Martinez would have made that jump.
Perhaps it's something as simple as the right Club jobs weren't available at the time?

That will focus the minds of those in charge of this club and give them a decision to make: extend or punt.

At this moment in time the only choice would be to punt, as this just isn't a great use of their resources.

Of course they'd want no such headaches and they'd possibly see a top ten finish as an opportunity to extend Moyes by another 12 months if we got it.

But that's what the thread is about: right now would you keep him or sack him.

I support him but his approach to managing the squad so it’s able to contribute when needed does my head in. Rather than give fringe players minutes and talk them up to boost confidence he’s always got a ‘because’ as to why he isn’t playing them. He threw Dibling under the bus the other week when he said he hasn’t spoken to him and he needs to figure it out himself. The best managers build confidence throughout their squads because you never know who you need when.

For me it’s just a question of when. We could do it today and we’d be well within reason. I don’t know that doing it now sets us up better for the next few years. When the candidate we want next is available do it.
