wants him staying. The people has spoken, no way the board would sack a manager without fans' absolute disapproval
When the discontent at the ground increases, which it is doing at a rate of knots, TFG won’t be worried about an online poll. Being boo’d off week in, week out and empty seats after 70 mins will test their nerve.

I’d simply not spend a bean in the January window other than anything we could raise from McSnail etc, give him till the seasons end, shake his hand and bid him adieu.

Exactly. Because they were considered technically proficient to take responsibility for two very good national sides. Do you think anyone would offer Moyes control of something similar? And before you suggest Scotland……..take a pause and realise what Scotland are compared to the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal in terms of football standing.
Thats not why relatively young managers move into international management

I do think there was a sense of "sentimentality", regarding his return and people remembering "the good times". The reality is the "good times", weren't all that good, they were just followed by the darkest years. I remember some good memories but ultimately by the end everyone was fed up and wanted a change.

Theres areas he deserved credit for; he does. I guess its "be careful what you wish for" (see West Ham).

But im hopeful TFG will actually not make same mistakes as Moshiri & Kenwright and the GSB.

I still maintain, i would rather us extensively search and go down the avenue of Hütter, Glasner.

Moyes isnt the long term plan; and we need to think strategy now, so for me, give him his farewell and send him packing.

I don’t see any progress. On £100m net spend we were 7th & if you add in Rohl & Grealish we would be 5th. A substantial investment for no discernible progress. Moyes ppg are down & the football is dour.

Last season 20 games 31 points
This season 21 games 29 points

He hasn’t developed any of the ‘development’ players & hasn’t even properly integrated them into the squad.
I'm a bit torn on Moyes but to say there isn't any progress seems a bit harsh. I think it was 9 away wins in 2025 (been a long time since that happened), and I think since he has been here, we are 8/9 in the league. And no relegation worries at Xmas.
On the spending, just because a team has 7th biggest net spend doesn't automatically mean they should come 7th (currently only 3 points adrift) especially if they have been one of the smallest spenders over previous couple of years. I will admit that Barry and Rohl seem awful signings though.
His tactics and subs sometimes drive me crazy and if he left at the end of the season, I wouldn't mind too much but there has been progress.

Being 7th in net spend is great and all. But that’s off the back of not spending any money for like 6 years whilst having an ageing squad with 9 players leaving on frees.

Moyesey with Iraola same odds to be sacked…
Longer odds than Pep. Going nowhere.

Clearly we’ll get all the missing players back - hopefully with some reinforcements before the end of the window - and be much restored.

Not the long-term answer, but never was. Said it start of the season tho, if we somehow sneak into the Euro spots, imagine there is no way he’s getting punted.

Wait until the end of the season and assess then.

If you look at some of these managers at brighton brentford and bournemouth its not so much the managers but the set up at the clubs. Potter left brighton and sunk like the titanic. Brighton have more or less carried on. Thomas Frank left brentford. Brentford are doing just fine without him. Even better tbh. Bournemouth are having a current bad run of form but their recruitment is very good.
I think Moyes has had his time but the set up needs looking at as well. I dont personally think any of the clubs mentioned above go out and spend 50m on Barry or Beto. Its a real head scratcher to me. If i finished work and then spent 15 minutes unpaid as an Everton scout each day i dont think i could have done much worse than beto and barry for 50 mil combined.

I think what has helped get us away from relegation worries has been how shockingly bad the bottom three have been again this season, and still all three have taken points off us.

Really.
Do tell.
It’s because they are crap. Pretty much everyone knows that’s why managers move to International football. It’s not a step up from club football. Or they are coming to the end of their careers, ie Carlo.

Guess what, they also bombed at international management. Martinez had arguably the best squad in the world with Belgium. What did he win?

Martinez had the best squad we have ever had in the PL. And at the time was given 2 out of our 3 biggest net spends with one of the best strikers in the world and he ripped up Moyes defensive foundations and took us to 11th.

Lots of short term memory loss. Having money does not equate to being fine. Spurs, Palace and Forest all have better squads and are below us. 2 of which have managers people want/wanted for us. Chelsea who have spent more than a country are 2 points above us. We are only 4 points off 6th.

Moyes can be infuriating but we are a hell of a lot better off, let the man cook, keep laying the foundations and then see who is out there in a couple of years. Changing managers is not a silver bullet that is guaranteed to work out.

You hit the nail on the head ,some are not used to us being really good so Moyes then stands out ,in reality he is and always has been an also ran . OK I know he won a cup but that was a freak as the rest of his mediocre history will tell .
If he was 30's and doing what he is now I would be behind him but he isn't and is still doing the things he always has ,tactically unaware mid match and pig headed about team selection.
How long did he keep Osman in the team ,the guy was an absolute expert at being in the wrong place at the right time ,the fact he pumped so many games into his career shows he wouldn't cut it at any big team .

Hogwash.
Did Tuchel and Flick move into international management because “they were crap”? Did Barca take Flick because international management was for has-beens?
The last time we saw imaginative, entertaining football here was under Martinez. He may well have ultimately failed with Belgium by not getting them over the line against the very best opposition, but another great footballing nation entrusted him straight away.
