I hope we keep Moyes for as long as he keeps progressing us which he has done this season and we are only half way through.

Seems to be some knee jerk reactions to the last week where our first 11 is without several key players.

If he improves us again next season I hope he stays. We will be in a far more stable position after the progression Moyes will bring us.

As soon as we stagnate we can look at a better option and will be in a far stronger position by letting him go at that point than getting rid of him too soon.

Getting knocked out the League Cup by the worst team in the Premier League who hadn't won a league game.

Getting knocked out of the FA cup in the 3rd round at home to a team that came up via the playoffs.

Great progression that.

He's done his job. Kept us up and made us a solid mid table club in our first season in the new stadium. Got rid of the fears.

He deserves a hand shake at the end of the season. Probably the wrong manager for what we want next.

I'd go and get Silva again. Love to see what he can do with our attacking players.

I wouldn’t want Silva back. The man can find 100 ways to turn a win into a draw or loss. He’s probably the one manager who is more unlucky than Moyes. He’s an expert at never getting anything over the line. It would be more of the same, no big wins, no derby wins, no trophies, no Europe, but a nice pleasing over performing 9th place finish every season.

They both moved from league to international management after us.
Exactly. Because they were considered technically proficient to take responsibility for two very good national sides. Do you think anyone would offer Moyes control of something similar? And before you suggest Scotland……..take a pause and realise what Scotland are compared to the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal in terms of football standing.

He wouldn't come back he's not stupid.

The only way I can see us progressing is if we hire a manager who poaches some decent players from his previous club builds a solid base to move on and gets rid of this endless cycle of dirge here.
Trouble is the chances of this happening in this era is close to zero. So we are stuck with a team of below par journey men getting reshuffled every 18 months by a new manager.

I don’t see any progress. On £100m net spend we were 7th & if you add in Rohl & Grealish we would be 5th. A substantial investment for no discernible progress. Moyes ppg are down & the football is dour.

Last season 20 games 31 points
This season 21 games 29 points

He hasn’t developed any of the ‘development’ players & hasn’t even properly integrated them into the squad.

He has progressed in getting us knocked out of the FA cup sooner this season.

I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t see out his contract and to be honest I’d give him another 3 years after that.

That said I see a bit of confrontation between the manger and administration in the horizon - be interesting to see how that plays out.
Very honest question Neiler and honestly not a ‘better Blue’ post, but do you go week-in week-out and endure all the time and cost it entails, watch and actually enjoy the ‘entertainment’ on offer?
Having to take valuable time away from the family especially on weekends, time off work and generally putting “going the match” above all else is becoming more and more difficult to justify when you weigh up what comes in return ( or maybe that’s just modern football in general)so I’d be shocked that any more than a small percentage of people who do would “give him another three years”.

I was so dismayed when we brought back Moyes after the last 7-8 years of shambolic appointments. It was the absolute perfect opportunity to try and break the continuum of mediocrity and losing mentality that has long been ingrained in Everton’s fabric.
He was brought in to do a specific job and has done it, but it doesn’t make him qualified to do the next phase of the Clubs progression.

It’s got the feel of Dyches reign about it with the dour football and plethora of excuses. How refreshing would it be to have someone at the helm who actually valued what he had ( and therefore motivated them) and was modern enough in his approach to actually make us attractive to watch again. Maybe I’m asking for a unicorn, but there are several examples of managers coming into a Club and making them entertaining again. It shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

Look at Palace and how they progressed from Hodgson to Glasner.

I don't think he should go. Yes I'm one of his biggest critics but let him see out the rest of his contract to bring some stability. Meanwhile the powers that be should be doing their due diligence on who should replace him. Leaving no stone unturned. They've got to get it right if we're to progress.

There has been general progress this season, hence the most points at Xmas for x number of years but of course that progression has been blighted by early cup exits, and the more recent poor form. I do agree that he appears to be fairly dogmatic and slow to react, but I do think people forget how poor the squad is and with four first teamers out in the last few games (five yesterday). I don’t recall us having this many first teamers out for quite some time.

Then people decide to blame him on the recruitment in the summer. I have no doubt he played a part (possibly a significant part) in some of those abysmal decisions but the reality was some of the targets would not join due to us not having European football and the recruitment team were not yet fully formed. The club was ill equipped to deal with the transfer window last summer. I agree however the team have been in place now for some months and if we are using that data driven approach as well there is no reason we should be quiet this month, at least to get in some loan players in the obvious positions.

I expect us to get a run of form together again, if KDH and Branthwaite come back in, in late Jan / early Feb and obviously the return of players from Afcon. Still only a few points off the European places so aside from the cups still plenty to play for.

On a side note, how embarrassing that both strikers missed their penalties. That sums the strikers this season in two shots.

I’d be surprised if they let him spend any more of their money given the bulk of the £100m looks like it’s been poorly spent. KDH being the only positive.
