i refuse to recognise thise 6 mill stuff because i don't want to believe it. see what/how much money we use by the end of the transfer window before we all fume and try and cut ourselves yeah lads, not really much more to say than that until we know for 100%

I agree with that fella , all i was doing was on what id heard & maybe to give us a little perspective to what to expect (ball park wise ).

To be fair mate we've bought Pienaar for what £4.5m with Naismith on a free and sold Cahill for £1m , Rodwell for £12m ish bevore bits and Yobo £1.75m before bits for everton if we spend another £6m ish I think that based on our recent history fir everton that'd be a 'decent window'. That's what being a blue reduces you to I suppose.

Said the words I was looking for mate. Rodwell has amazing attributes, probably more so than Gibson but the latter is miles more effective.

Shame really but it is what it is. Gibson really helps us win games and play better football.

Yeah this really. Rodwell really should be the better player but football isn't that simple.

Gibson was the type of player we needed and Rodwell wasn't. Doesn't mean he couldn't of been in the future but now were stuck with Gibson, hope he can improve on his showings last year and make us even better.

I'd be less angry if I came home and the wife was shagging Rodwell, rather than Gibson.

Such a looker Jack. Why are we getting rid of the lookers.

£12million is what we've been told, however, if it was more would we want other clubs to know? It'd only start pushing prices up for players we're after. Maybe they're letting slip its one figure when really we've gotten more? O'Keefe was convinced it was £15million plus add-ons to begin with.

Opinions and all that mate but Rodwell does absolute nothing really. Plays within himself. No doubt he's got talent but he seemingly struggles with the confidence or drive to go with it.

Compare that to Gibson. Took him a few games to settle in but held good position and allowed Fellaini to be more effective, importantly he uses the ball very well. We pass our way out of defence with him and Heitinga. Could you see Rodwell distributing the ball out wide the way he does? Always looking to play a positive pass. Rodwell turns and goes back to the defenders.

Gibson has done more in an Everton shirt than Rodwell has. Like I said, name five games where he's played very well. Hard to do isn't it?

I cant a remember a game where Gibson's been a stand out. He's been solid eclipsed by in form players around him.

It's all down to what way you're inclined. At a push the two are similar in there input, you'll always get 6 out of 10 games from the off. But its down to who had/has the extra talent in their game.

I believe Jack's a better footballer and could offer a better attacking threat when needed. Gibson gives you consistency.

Ones 21 the other 24. Ones schooled at United, one at Everton. The two are a **** hairs aguement in talent stakes at the same juncture. Yet one has peaked, the others still learning.

I'll laying it to bed now

Gibson was very good against City, Newcastle, Norwich and Fulham off the top of my head mate. Rodwell was good against Sigma in the UEFA a couple of years ago. In extra time as a sub against ten men Liverpool in the Gosling derby, as a sub against United in the 3-1 and against Villa in the FA Cup three years ago.

Apart from that he's usually a weak link in midfield. Gibson looks miles better.

I'd love to see a local lad like him make it but its five years of potential and at some point you have to consider if he really will step up.

rodwell/gibson thing reminds me of the moneyball way of looking at players

one is irish, a bit ugly, doesnt look that fit and everyone thinks they are gash

another one is english good looking, looks the part and is highly rated

but one is MUCH more effective than the other...

Im fairly over this like, thinking logically have we missed Jack over the final 8 months of the season, not really.

If this makes the squad more balanced i think this is could turn out to be a good calculated move.

I'm sure that Rodwell will be the bollocks for City if he can stay fit. Put Gibson in that side and he'd be no better than De Jong or Barry.

I'm pretty sure that he'll get to play to his strengths at City and he'll show why he's been so hyped for so long. His natural game seems to be breaking from deep but with us he wasn't given license to get forward, he was in and out of the side and sometime played out of position. As Mancini said I think he'll enjoy playing to win rather than for containment. He wasn't a key player for us and it'll hopefully give us funds to bring in more creativity or firepower. The only disappointment was that we couldn't squeeze a premium price out of Sheik Mansour.

£15m and I would agree with you. We dont have enough to buy any first teamers by the sounds of it.
