Football knowledge transplant anyone. Bill clearly wouldn't know a good or bad player if he had a sign round his neck declaring how good he is

One of my favorite movies is Contact with Jodie Foster. In it there's a scene where she's sitting before a review panel who's evaluating if she's to be the person picked to represent the world by going on a spaceflight to a different solar system.

One of the questions posed to her is "Do you believe in God?" Jodie's character in the movie is an atheist and believes that everything can and should be proven with science and that God can't be proven by science.

She replies that the question is "irrelevant" to her qualifications as to whether or not she should be picked.

The person who asked the question stated that "95% of the living population believe in a supreme being or divine being" and that the person representing the world more than likely need to represent what the majority of the world believes in.

Needless to say, she didn't get picked and it's this question that does her in. Later in the movie, she asks the person who asked her the question (also happens to be her love interest) why he asked that particular question knowing what the answer would be and what it would do to her chances.

His reply. "I couldn't in good concience vote for a person that in their mind, honestly believes that 95% of the world's population suffers from some sort of mass delusion."

Well guess what Halewood, consider yourself in the 5% that thinks the rest of us suffer from mass delusion regarding our opinions of one Manny Fernandes.

More than 90%+ of the Evertonians can see Manny's class so it's not a problem for us.

But you go on and keep thinking (if you want to call it that...thinking) that Manny's crap and the rest of us will continue to see the reality that yes, Manny's actually a good player.

Football knowledge?

I'm having a laugh.

To settle this dispute, why dont you open up a poll to give a definate result. I will vote, Yes, Manny is a good player(y).

Probably because we've had about three of 'em already.

I will say this, when he first came on board, admittedly, there were more who didn't want him and weren't impressed.

But as he played more and more, you could see him coming around.

I'd say if you ran that poll today, you'd get around 90% saying he'd do a job for us.

The other 9% would be those still ticked at how he left us last summer and then that last 1% would be for you know who.

Alot of people don't base there opinion on how he plays they base it on what happened in the summer. He'll never do good to alot of people because of that incident.

HB for example was a fan on NSNO if I remember correctly, I could find threads where he says "Manny is a quality player and a must buy". Funny how things change isn't it?

Anyway, I'm with you, Manny is a class act, still a little raw but he has all the tools to be a top quality midfielder.

when he came the second time he stank the house out for 2 or 3 months until he got his act together.

i think he is a great player, but during that second loan i was very relieved we did not spend 12 million on an attitude like that.

i think he is a good player and it would depend on the price. 6-7 million i'd take him. anything over that and i'd happily move on.

It seems Moutinho is on his way to Everton, or at least England.

He is boarding on a flight from Lisbon to London and it's expected that from there he will be flying to Everton. Another rumour is that Moutinho might do the physical's in London, and therefore, the whole deal can be done in London.

I wouldn't be surprised if by the evening of the day he signs for Everton.

It will be a great signing for Everton.

It seems your board pulled another secret mission sucessfully! Congrats!

606 Rumour

I dont know when he will arrive, but I've been confident for the last couple of weeks that Moyes would land his man. Whether its this week or next, it'll happen (y)

Keeping my fingers crossed on this. I for one don't think like the media has suggested is contingent on the AJ move. But I do think in the overall scheme AJ's money will be spread out for some other players such as Suchy or M'bia. Moyes wants Moutinho badly. He wants to come. His fans booed him unmercifully last game. So I hope its all coming around.(y)

I just think Moyes and Board are trying to digest what if this is our only signing are we taking a chance with all this money on just one warm body?

'another secret mission'

96 pages on the player in this thread.

not what i would call a secret mission.

on closer inspection of 606 it turns out he has a 'friend' who works at lisbon airport.

According to the toffeeweb rumour mill we have agreed a deal with Sporting. And followed up our interest with a bid for M'bia. Any truth in this one?

To be honest, although in themselves these reports seem unfounded, they are starting to pick up again in number after a few days of nothing which coincided with the board trouble. So I'm hopeful that they might be an indication of things happening in our favour. I was hoping to see something official tonight, but now I'll postpone until tomorrow night. I can't carry on refreshing threads on here all day! It is summer holidays after al! b)

Do you have a point in the endless boring monologue about 1 of Jodie Fosters worst movies?
