If we did get him, it probably would be the signing of the premiership, unless someone buys David Villa, Moutinho is one of the brightest youngsters, coming from the club which produced nani, and ronaldo.

If we dont get Moutinho, the reason would probably be because we didnt cough up the money...thatd be annoying...

The article I saw on NSNO from Newsnow said that Moutinho himself mentioned coming to Everton.

Man, if that's true....

just for you sotnas!!

this could be a snowball effect that other targets have been waiting to see. ambition!!

oh toxteth blue... i see your logic that if we sell aj then we only get moutinho for 7 million. but we have 8.6 million tied up in aj from when we bought him, so we would be buying him for 15.6 million. hmmm.. confusing!

mis read that link from teppic. well the original author has done a typo but I thought it said we was going to bid 1 billion for Moutinho

"Lisbon's Moutinho confirms Everton desire

Sporting Lisbon's Joao Moutinho has confirmed that Everton have made a bid for him that has been rejected, and expressed his hope that they can come to an arrangement in the end.

Reports say that Everton originally offered £16million, but are believed to be preparing to offer a club record of £18illion to secure the 21 year-old."

:lol::lol:

Iv got a bad feeling about Arsenal on this one. Their as desprate as us for midfielders. Plus Real are now after Fabregas, if he went, moutinho would be a perfect replacment!!

Sorry for the doom an gloom, but im an Evertonian. Always fear the worst.

Fabrages won't leave, I guarantee it.

Moutinho is too similar to Cesc so he'd probably just sit on the bench. I see where your coming from though, it is Everton after all.

Would be great if we would end up signing Joao Moutinho. What a signal it would send to all our rivals and other players we're trying to sign. Hopefully Fernandes will also be an Everton player at the start of the season. If those two sign, my summer would be close to perfection, even without the other possible newcomers to EFC.

arsenal are the new newcastle!

and zero- 1 billion would still be value for our new pocket dynamo! :)

Just want the lad so much to play for us. You just know we'll fukk it up. We'v been here so many times in the past.

Come on Everton get it right this time.

Please don't haggle over a mil here or their.

Agreed mate, I'm fairly confident to be honest. He's wants to come, we want to buy and the AJ money will hopefully fund the deal.

As I said though this is Everton, anything can happen.

we need him and fernandes to come, young lads have talent but won't cut it this season. i fear that if we pay over the odds for moutinho then we might not be able to afford manny.
needs to be sorted asap whatever the funds maybe.

All the sporting fans are saying we are a mid table club, dont know how they work that one out. And all the people asking if moutinho's worth the money, he was probably THE stand-out player in the portugal team at the euros. With the quality of their team if that doesn't tell you something about the kid nothing will. He is already world class at the age of 21 and still has a lot of potential to become better.
This would be some signing if we can pull it off, if it goes tits up we know it is down to the board not stumping up the wedge.
p.s Toxtethblue, great post on bigsoccer.com lad if its the same toxtethblue that is.
p.p.s, Even though the transfer fee for moutinho is still high, if we pay in instalments the imediate fee might not be very big, say the size of the AJ transfer money from fulham or whoever? That would still leave us with any original transfer pot we have to spend on the other 4 or 5 players moyes has mentioned, with the rest of the moutinho fee to be paid off over time. Win win IMO (y)

Fuel to the fire or just a cruel wind up?

I pulled this off Wikipedia this morning with regards to the Portuguese's website entry, which has been updated to include the Everton rumours..

"It has also been rumoured that he has a black and white tattoo of the Everton Football Club crest on his right arm. When asked about this he replied, in broken English: "it's a true. It is the club of my intention to play for next season and for many year"."

- So,make of that what you will, some times these stories are planted by those devious michevious little scroats from across the park to wind us up. And isn't always the way when we're linked with a player - They've always been a life long fan due to some family heritage.Or is that just every player Liverpool sign?!!
