More than a little surprised.

Too much being made of the loan deals IMO, aswell as assumptions being made of what will happen. Barry has come in a loan as it was the only way to sort his wage issue out. Last yr of contract then he's free, as long as both him and us are happy with the season he has, he will be our player next season too. It's only a loan in name. Delefuoe has the potential for another season loan, he's currently back up for pienaar/mirallas. Not a problem IMO, pienaar will need replacing soon either way, so just buys a little time. Lakaku is the big one that we we will feel his loss but again either way we were gonna have to invest at some point, we'v just put it off for a year. He could end up available anyway, Chelsea could easily go out next summer and buy 2 30M strikers.

Don't worry be happy!

Exactly. And we have experience of working in the loan market recently: Donovan, Jo, Drenthe, Straq, Dier....

From what we saw of Deulofeu's delivery in the league cup game, he'll have no problems getting time in the team. Mirallas and Coleman have a decent cross on them too, and if Lukaku can improve his game in the air (and Jelavic regain his) we can get decent results going at it from the wings like Moyes did. It's encouraging that Barkley can provide service through the middle - plus we all know both Gibbo and Barry have an awesome long shot in them. Looking positive, this.

He did an ok job in the transfer market not a great one. And now he's completely out of his depth in his new job there.

Completely disagree with this- for us and our spending prowess he was spot on with his transfer dealings.

£2m- Arteta
£1.7m- Cahill
£2m- Pienaar
£5m- Lescott
£6m- Baines
£4m- Jags

Even AJ was sold at a profit. He did a phenomenal job in the transfer market at the level we had to shop at.

To be fair, a lot of his goals have been headers from what I can make out. Needs good delivery, so someone like Deulofeu might prove important delivery wise, with Baines...and Coleman could do with a bit of practice in that respect.

I wouldn't deny he pulled out some gems, no question. Best one - pound for pound - for me would be Coleman, btw. 60K paid and if he was sold tomorrow we'd be looking at 10M in this market.

But he brought in his fair share of turkeys (Bily, Jelavic, Davies, Beattie, Kroldrup) and his preoccupation with bringing in a class of young player for around the 1M mark was not a resounding success. I can see why he wanted to take the gamble on that strategy but it's fair to say he did better buying more experienced Championship players. Not to mention the trail of underwhelming loan deals like Gardner, Straq, Hitzlsperger, McFadden, Senderos, and frees like Castillo, Jacobsen and Naismith.

It's a mixed bag that. I'd upgrade 'ok' to 'very good', but I certainly dont think it was the miraculous job his supporters would have us believe.

Barry is only a loan in name only.Man City would have gladly ripped up is contract if allowed. It is technically a loan because City are still contributing to his salary until next summer.

The very wealthy clubs will always have players that for one reason or another will not be getting enough games, these players will always be available to loan , it is just another market, but one we didn't use before.

People are worrying too much about next season IMO. If we get this right this season, we may well end up with European football at some level, which then opens us up to a slightly different level of player. What we have at the moment is players on loan, who would more likely be playing for teams in European cometition in the future. the loan market just give us a little slice of a market that currently isn't available to us, but could do while they are here.

bladdered you

This all over!

For me, we shouldnt be squabbling over who done well in the transfer market. Every manager, even the greatest in the world...SAF, Jose...all make great signings and all buy lemons.

Moyes done it, Martinez will do it.

This is the kind of thing we should be focusing on when it comes to players in the squad and youth development.

“In any performance from a youngster I never focus on the mistakes, I value their reaction to the mistakes and their next pass, or next decision,” - Martinez on Stones from todays Echo.

'What were finding is Ross will probably make his mistakes in our first team which could be costly to the club'
Moyes on Barkley, Oct 2011

This is a new era for Everton football club, we need to get with the programme and not lose our heads when we have drawn a few games. Long term goal and vision.

I'm happy with the window. At one point when whelan was on talksport saying we tried to get mcCarthy over a four year period I was highly embarrassed but we pulled it out of the bag in the end while making profit.

I hope if he's as good as what we hope he can be, he'll be with us helping us win trophies and getting champions league with no hint of leaving. Supporters who are more arsed about sell on fees need to have a serious word on why they even follow football.

You have a fair point but you have to admit, most people have grown accustomed to the selling of our best players and for people to worry about how much we can sell them for is probably a spot on. Not that Im all for looking at the negatives.
