All-Star Team Announced | WVHooligan - Soccer Blog

Major League Soccer announced the All-Star selection for this month’s All-Star game in Sandy,UT at Rio Tinto Stadium. Dominic Kinnear will manage the side against EPL side Everton.

Keep in mind this first eleven doesn’t actually mean this is the starting roster for the game against Everton, Kinnear will decide that.

The first XI goes as follows:

Kasey Keller (Sounders FC), Geoff Cameron (Houston), Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew), Wilman Conde (Chicago Fire); Shalrie Joseph (New England Revs), Stuart Holden (Houston), Guillermo Barros Schelotto (Columbus Crew), Freddie Ljungberg (Sounders FC), Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto FC); Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Conor Casey (Colorado Rapids) .

No real comments on the players picked today. Not as much ballot stuffing as once thought here from Seattle or Toronto. No RSL player in this mix so it will be interesting to see which RSL guy gets called up to the game.

God knows what that last paragraph means.

I am going to venture that the MLS All-Stars will have at least one player from every team per some silly rule. They're chosen by fan vote, not coach selection (save the last 7) so it isn't necessarily the actual All-Stars, just the most popular.

Cameron has been a revelation for us (Houston Dynamo) at CB even though he's a midfielder by trade. Holden will probably be off to Europe in the next year or two and I think he's got a real chance of cracking the 2010 World Cup squad.

I'm really getting excited about this match. Shown on national television. Harkes and Dellacamera will probably call the game and Harkes will certainly be well versed about Everton to let those watching on TV know about our club, manager, and players.

Schelotto, the former Boca Juniors star, will be the one to watch along with Donovan.

yes i wish it was bigger, out here in portland they consider our city Soccer city of the U.S, just a big fan base and lots of supporters. It is hard to go to a bar to watch a game its always stupid stuff poker/bowling etc... The fox soccer channel alone is not even in very many bars, so i pay an extra 20 bcks a month just to watch that 1 channel it is ridiculous. You would think the biggest sport in the world would be out in the states and promoted more, but i will travel for this even if im not rooting for the U.S, to tell you the truth argentina is my favriote world team anyway lol

Glad some of the American lads get to see the team play, hope you cheer us on to an historic win. (unbeaten record and that)

Forget how lucky I am sometimes that the club is up the road, and I get to go to most games every season, there's a lot of dedicated and knowledgeable fans over the pond who deserve a shot at seeing the team. (that said we're not gonna create a 39th game to accomodate you ****s ;) )

I'm really excited about this one just like TX Bill keeps saying. Last year MLS all star game was pretty entertaining too. One of my good friends is a West Ham fan and I kept bustin his balls on how they lost.

Anyway this is going to put Everton on the American map. Atleast now when I'm off to college, I hope people will realize that I'm wearing an Everton shirt not just a shirt that says "Chang" on it.

Good test for us. I have heard Bianco is now taking the place of DeResario. Remember these MLS all stars should be hitting on all cylinders as we are just getting into match fitness so don't get downhearted if the result isn't what you would expect. I know the US league has that stigma of being no more than a Championship league at best but they do have some talented players that are well conditioned. Remember the heat factor in the States at this time of year. It took me a couple of years just to adjust myself to that factor.
I personally think this will be a mouth watering fixture. It will no doubt help our exposure here all over the nation.(y)COYB

I fully expect us to lose this match, probably on the order of 2-1 or 2-0.

The MLS players are in peak form and fitness right now. That and they aren't slouches either.

But I'm confident we'll give a good account of ourselves come game day and introduce ourselves to another untapped audience.

I am trying to get myself a ride down there to catch this game and support our everton!!!!! but i need money for gas now lol, i will be very upset if i miss my first ever everton match, aw well i just might have to take a trip across the pond to see em :)
