Aye, it was Vin
I watched this as long as I could but missed the run on the Ancients. Vin is a treasure. Watch him every chance you get and tell your kids that he was the best at what he did. ("brought to you by Farmer John bologna...")
Chipper Jones ain't walking through that door
Chipper Jones was very good. He was YES SIR! good.
Chipper's one of ours down here. He even had his own theme song as early as high school. Everybody knew Chipper was real deal good.
Just substitute Chipper for Flipper and sing the theme song with me. His daddy was a coach and Chipper is Chipper because he's a junior and a chip off the old block. You remember the song, don't you? (show them your age now)

I can post about the Palace match, or I can post this picture after reading this thread. Let me know if this was a good decision.

I love Chicago - greatest skyline in the world and like NY without the ridiculous prices - and I half follow the Cubs. They have started like a train. What a good news story it would be if they could really surf through Spring and arrive in June on top of the standings. It would be good for baseball in general.

Soft spot for the Orioles as well.

Repress the anger and frustration. Maybe reflect on when the Earth was young and you enjoyed EL play under the lights of Goodison, but don't try to rationalize your feelings. Just bottle them up inside.

The same team that might have the best walk rate we’ve seen in more than 50 years is also projected to be this year’s best power-hitting team. To think of it in simple terms: any pitch that’s a ball, this Cubs lineup is liable to take, and any pitch that’s in the zone, this Cubs lineup is liable to hit out of the park. Now how is someone supposed to pitch against that?

Last year’s Cubs were already impressive in both of these categories. Last year’s Cubs posted a 9.1% walk rate, indistinguishable from the league-leading Dodgers, and were a top-10 power-hitting team. Then, they added on. The skillsets the Cubs acquired in the offseason fit perfectly with their apparent offensive philosophy. They retained Dexter Fowler, whose career walk rate is north of 12%. They went out and got Ben Zobrist, whose career walk rate is north of 10%. Jason Heyward’s career walk rate is also north of 10%. (ed - first three hitters in the lineup) That’s where the extra walks come from. It seems like this is the mark of Theo Epstein, whose Red Sox teams led baseball in walks for nearly a decade. This year’s Cubs seem poised to top that. This year’s Cubs will wear you down.

Last night, the Reds gave up 10 walks to 31 batters in eight innings, along with nine runs. It was 43 degrees with an 8 MPH wind coming in off the lake with gusts. They must have thrown a couple hundred pitches in eight innings, using six (count 'em) pitchers. The starter threw 40+ pitches, gave up three walks and five runs, and left after 2/3 of an inning. An amazing display. All hail Theo.

In addition, when at bat they got to face John Lackey, a most unpleasant experience. A bad night for the Redlegs.
