Current Affairs Missing woman in Lancashire

Really? So far they seem to have been right and a whole load of other people seem to have been wrong.

….they were wrong communicating details of the problems the poor woman was suffering from. They helped turn it into a soap, dreadful for the family.

I have no idea how they searched the river for 3 weeks only for it to be found a mile from where she went missing, although there’s probably a justified reason for that.

Do you know what constitutes of a search, let alone searching of a river? We’re talking about a finger tip search in murky, entangled and cold water.

It’s a slow and methodical process, for the right reasons. In terms of the top point: there’s a lot of questions in terms of the investigation, but…

… the press and the unhelpful intrusion by countless non-experts has made their job incredibly difficult. I don’t envy their task, at all.

Were they, though? I agree it would have been best not to publicize it, but when most of the media and many of those idiots who are in political office were constantly slating them for doing what they were doing it is hard to see how they could have given sufficient information to get the critics to STFU whilst protecting this poor woman's privacy.

As an aside, is there anything more hypocritical than the press being upset that a person's private life hasn't been respected?

According to her family the police released that information because people were looking at selling stories about her. Her issues were known from the outset as they had visited her in January. It doesn’t sound like they got some new information and just blurted it out

Maybe I'm dim but how can they not have found her body sooner if it's just been in the river the whole time?
Water moves, in theory the body could have been two miles up and stuck for a while. Also, on a grim note, as bodies decompose gasses build up and are released meaning bodies float for a period then sink for a bit and is also dependent on fresh and salt water for instance. There's all sorts of things underwater to get snagged on. On a related note I watch a channel on youtube called 'adventures with purpose', if you give them a go you'll understand a bit more. It aint always easy viewing, and the stories are usually very sad. Volunteers helping authorities and families.
Lastly, if it's the case that an acquaintance or two have been offered a few quid to cough up some details regards her personal life, I'd like them and the slimeball journo's to get a very severe kicking. Vultures preying on the vulnerable, despicable!

This, they would have had to have permission off family to release personally details. People should be blaming the Media and not the police

Oh yeh I'm not that dim lol I know all that stuff, but simply starting at the part she went missing, and moving downstream till the bay, was surely the key thing for some people to do? The river isn't the biggest. It just sounds like that wasn't done if the body was only found after a tip. Did they give up on the river? I know they couldn't rule out other things like her running away etc. but c'mon. Just seems like it's taken too long for me.

Yeh I get that, wasn't expecting it to just be dead easy but 3 weeks? Surely you go either side of the river right to the bloody bay checking.

It was very cold. I'm no expert, but the colder it is, the less time you can spend in water. The warmer it is, the more time you can spend searching.

The body recovered today may only have got there say an hour beforehand, it could have been much further upstream and snagged somewhere or covered in a flat patch of calm water just swirling around until it dislodged and moved into a visible position.

I think if you consider the size , length and depth of a river logistically I’d think it’d be impossible to seal enough of it off to categorically know a body wouldn’t come in /go out . So whilst I’d agree there will always be understandable criticism for the time it’s taken to find the Body I think the factors involved in this mean it was probably more complex and involved than many people are considering.

Which they'd have found sooner if they carried on searching, no? lol
