Guardiola speaks very highly of Arteta, indeed would he have him as his second in command if he thought he wasn't capable of taking over if anything unforeseen happened.
I agree. Dodge the dinosaurs and take a risk for once. Playing it safe never gets us anywhere
I don't follow that logic I am afraid, I would guess that very few top clubs would automatically give the job to the assistant manager if something were to happen to the man in charge.Guardiola speaks very highly of Arteta, indeed would he have him as his second in command if he thought he wasn't capable of taking over if anything unforeseen happened.
Sorry, it probably came off not how I intended - I think they were safe choices in the sense they had prem experience over other potential candidates at the time. Was Marco Silva a set bet? Not sure he was, nor Martinez who'd just been relegated. Would rather Emery.
Where did I say he’s managed a single game?? pep even said himself arteta is the reason why sterling and sane were so good last season, he knows he modern game better than most othersHe's not managed a single game, How are you hyping him up this much?
Killed me that bit, well in, mateI can't ever remember him being interviewed after a game, maybe he can't speak or he needs a ventriloquist a bit like Sooty. Just get Big Dunc in and
give Cobber Tim a go at 2nd in command or vice versa.
You know what, Moyes in for the rest of the season with Arteta as assistant and then taking over in the summer probably wouldn't be the worst scenario
Moyes can steady the ship and get Arteta ready to take the reins so he gets a fresh start and doesn't inherit this mess
It'll get all the players used to him and he can get nice and settled without having the pressure of keeping us up and rescuing this season around his neck
Moyes gets his last hurrah, the club gets stabilised and we can then look forward to a new journey with Arteta at the helm next season
There's worse ways of doing it tbh
No need to be so condescending about it mate
You used to be able to have actual polite discussions on here but its all insults and snide comments these days. Shame to see the forum has got that way. Silva is likely not going to survive the rest of the season, so I see no issue at all with musing as to who might replace him
I stand by my belief that such a scenario could work
I’m on the record as not wanting Moyes back but I could live with that
I’m not as sold as others seem to be on Areta, but I’d be willing to give him a chance. As it is I don’t think he would come here anyway, especially if Arsenal are interested
....all of these blokes have ego, I just can’t see Moyes signing a contract for less than 2 seasons. He won’t want to be seen as an interim manager, I doubt anybody would.
If we were top half with a good squad I would agree but we are not far off a relelgation scrap, it's the wrong time to take a completely new manager.
