Mikel Arteta

No need to be so condescending about it mate

You used to be able to have actual polite discussions on here but its all insults and snide comments these days. Shame to see the forum has got that way. Silva is likely not going to survive the rest of the season, so I see no issue at all with musing as to who might replace him

I stand by my belief that such a scenario could work

I’m on the record as not wanting Moyes back but I could live with that

I’m not as sold as others seem to be on Areta, but I’d be willing to give him a chance. As it is I don’t think he would come here anyway, especially if Arsenal are interested
My apologies. I have been very antsy on this forum recently - I blame the current situation at the club.

If a manager comes in and needs someone alongside him, then he will be seen as weak by the players and fans, and his mentor will be rolled out every time something goes wrong. Perhaps he is doing this on the QT at City right now?

Moyes should never be allowed within the ground again after how he belittled us with his comments after leaving. I was pulled up on thinking he might be a short term answer and rightly so.

I have no idea who the next manager will be or what profile they need to have. I suspect, a people manager like Ancelotti who can adapt his ideal football style to what he has around him whilst trying to get us to a place where we play an attractive style of football. If there is one around, get him in. Maybe Poch, though I fear that he is off elsewhere.

You know what, Moyes in for the rest of the season with Arteta as assistant and then taking over in the summer probably wouldn't be the worst scenario

Moyes can steady the ship and get Arteta ready to take the reins so he gets a fresh start and doesn't inherit this mess

It'll get all the players used to him and he can get nice and settled without having the pressure of keeping us up and rescuing this season around his neck

Moyes gets his last hurrah, the club gets stabilised and we can then look forward to a new journey with Arteta at the helm next season

There's worse ways of doing it tbh

....all of these blokes have ego, I just can’t see Moyes signing a contract for less than 2 seasons. He won’t want to be seen as an interim manager, I doubt anybody would.

I'll actually engage with both of you as you've been polite

You may both be right in all honesty

Again, I don't want Moyes, but if he has to come back and he'd be open to this idea (Along with Arteta) then I'd tolerate it

I'm not sold that Areta is the answer, but I'd be willing to give him a go. If a top class ready made manager was waiting in the wings I'd think differently, but I can't see us attracting someone like that, so going for someone young and hungry strikes me as more appealing than going for the managerial merry-go-round
I dont think thats a good idea Mikey, firstly I doubt either would be willing to go along with it,if Moyes came in and "steadied the ship",which I dont think he would, then we all know certain people in the club would push for a 5 year contract for him, plus Arteta would be learning nothing off him,if it went pear shaped theres then 2 comtracts to pay up and back to where we started

We need to get Mikel Arteta in now before arsenal do, he’s the next generation of manager and has been tutored by the best. He understands the modern game unlike most of these managers nowadays, the games changing and this would be the ideal chance for us to change with it
What complete and utter unadulterated garbage. The guy hasn’t so much as managed a team. I hope Arsenal take him, as he will fail big time.

I suspect this could be a critical factor. He will have seen what happened to Sam and seen that actually doing a decent job for West Ham meant very little, so there's not much to be gained from being an interim manager.

Reading the Bascombe article in the Telegraph I get the sense Moshiri does not want to hire an interim which is going to end up costing a fortune to pay off as well. So if Moyes comes, I suspect it will be on a longer term deal.

Good point about West Ham. I thought he did alright there.

Surely he would be more likely to work with someone like Cahill than Arteta? Cahill have everything, while Arteta sees Arsenal as his career peak

He hasn’t done anything at managerial level to suggest he’d be a good enough replacement.

This would be a bigger gamble than taking on someone who’s experienced.

I loved him when he played for us but seems there’s more wanting him for sentimental reasons because he’s an ex-player.

Needs to do a Lampard and Gerrard and go and see if he can cut it at a lower league team or a team abroad.
