Good question mind you. Did we ever find out where he played?I think I remember reading a story than when Iain Durrant arrived from rangers Walker asked him what position he played LOL
I was also 14 at the time and buzzing we got him after his Norwich exploits. Thought he was our ticket back to the mid 80s promised land. Probably my first out of what turned out to be many woeful Everton misjudgments
I met him once and he seemed like a genuinely nice bloke.
His disappearance does indicate that, but how do you explain his performance with Norwich? Total mystery that I don't think anyone has the answer to. Walker's appointment was reasonable at the time - don't recall anyone turning cartwheels but it wasn't like we'd appointed Paul Ince or someone like that, it was seen as a pretty bold pick of a promising manager that might or might not work out. There have been many WTF moments though the years but Walker is probably the low point. It may not be entirely fair, but our alleged pursuit of Silva a few weeks back had echoes for me, the fact he never worked in the game (to the best of my knowledge) after his stint with us suggests he was utterly clueless and that the cat was out the bag after the EFC debacle.

Once he was in the dugout it was like an imposter had taken the reins. You hear the term competition winner bandied about for players like Niasse, but they're nowhere near the levels of ineptitude that Walker displayed. It was like we were being managed by Mick from the Coach and Horses, surreal how far out of his depth he was.
You weren't alone. Many did think he was a great appointment. The way Norwich played at Bayern fooled everyone...they also put up a good showing against Inter (Bergkamp and co.). The season prior to these European ties they were genuine title challengers. In hindsight he must have just got incredibly lucky with Norwich with a very good group of players.14 years old that season, remember 13k on a Sat 3pm kickoff against Southampton.
Walker had took Norwich to Bayern Munich and beat them, i expected him ( wrongly ) to do the same for us.
