2025/26 Michael Vincent Keane

Good post.
They're gutted he's had a decent season.
Can't wait to blame him for something/anything.
Imagine not wanting your own players to do well.
Wanting them to do well and them playing well are two very different things. Pickford again has had an outstanding season so far which has far more to do with our low goals conceded figures than playing Tarkowski and Keane as a central defence pairing.

Some people miss the point on Keane. He was resigned as the 4th choice centre back. He has played very well this season and it was an excellent piece of business to retain him...but his best will still be lower than that of Branthwaite. So when the latter is fit he starts at centre back because he's the best centre back at the club and when he's playing in the Champions League elsewhere in a year or two, other fans will laugh that Michael Keane was starting over him in his preferred position.

Not one single person on this forum has suggested that Keane should play over Branthwaite. Not one. Moyes? Seems to have different thoughts.

He made his ground Tarks was running in treacle to get back to stop the scorer.......
Spot on, at least Keane got back.

Plus Tarks couldn’t be arsed doing a bit of snide play and fouling/ shoving sesko to stop the break, as the fella sprinted past him starting from 5 yards back.

Was he actually re-signed as 4th choice centre back or do we just assume that? 3rd if not 2nd choice knowing the way Moyes operates

Tarkowski is slow, he was never winning a foot race with the Utd front 3. His decision to go tight to Szesko and leave a massive gap behind him was bizarre.

We seem to have a problem as a team that we won't commit bodies forward in open play but massively over commit on set plays.

Anyone who understands football would have him as the 4th choice centre back behind Branthwaite, Tarkowski and O'Brien. I was really pleased when Keane was resigned. You can go back to that thread. I would have mentioned something like he's a great squad player to have retained.

especially when Garna crossed the ball & hit the first man when we had Bradthwaite unmarked on the back post !
