2025/26 Michael Vincent Keane

not a great defender is he;

albeit his shot (which was admittedly very well taken) he was awful. should have done more for their goal (barely watched instead of trying to block the pass) and later lost the ball which could have made it 0-2

Completely fine with him being forth choice and being picked when needs must.

It’s criminal he’s in the team week in week out when much better players are moved out of position to accommodate.

Shocking management.

When we gave him a contract last year I thought it made sense with JB and Tarks picking up injuries at the end of the season and he could fill in a gap in the team should they not be fit for the start of the season. Turns out it seems Moyes plan was to make him an integral part of our back four that cannot be dropped when available to play.

4th choice everyone said, it’s fine he’s there as a back up they said.

Gets played if he’s available, without fail.

Was devoed he got a new contract, and if Moyes is still knocking about after the end of the season, he will probably get another one.

Keane is everything wrong with EFC, has been for years - dross rewarded and praised.

Hes been our best CB this season, in a team very few have conceded less than.

The “best” of a really poor bunch isn’t something to be shouting about and my point still stands.

Looks at the games won vs the games lost when he plays, he’s a dud cb, always has been.

WOW; you still don't see it.

Only 1st Arsenal, 2nd Man City and 3rd Aston Villa have conceded less than Everton.

Jordan Pickford has 9 clean sheets, 33.3% of games.

Michael Keane is far from the problem this season.

Considering he's been our best centre half this season, the contract renewal proved a sensible decision.

Now we have Branthwaite back, and O'Brien - they should be centre half and Michael Keane, a squad player.

That's down to the manager.

The problem this season - again - is a lack of goals. We've scored less after 27 games than we did under Dyche's full season. But here we are, people digging out Michael Keane. It's always his fault - just like when everyone said he was the main reason we were terrible, and then he never played 1 single minute in the season we went Coady/Tarkowski and were 19th with our lowest ever points total going into February.

Proverbial scapegoat - to many, it's always his fault.

With him being played at CB means that O`Brien gets shoved out to RB where he looks very poor at times and the fact that with Keane alongside him Tarks looks very poor, he probably looks better than he is.

That's on the manager.

Keane could say playing in a back 4 without actual full backs and against a below par Tarkowski doesn't help him either.

We need to sign 2 full backs to give us balance, and have O'Brien and Branthwaite at centre half but Michael Keane has been our best defender this season - in a team that only the top 3 have conceded less premier league goals than. That's not to say he's our best defender, clearly.

Agree, bang on 👍🏻

Our conceding less than I'd say is more down to having a very good keeper and some large portions of luck with other teams poor finishing rather than a well drilled comfortable defence.

Haha, yeah, over 27 games - it's not about Everton's defenders, no chance we give them any credit - it's all about good luck with other teams poor finishing. You don't say that if this season we had Branthwaite and O'Brien centre half all season.

You're proving my point wonderfully here.
