2025/26 Michael Vincent Keane

So if you challenge for the ball you can use excessive force?

I don't think it was a red card but people's excuse for it not being is getting silly now.

He challenged for the ball so he is allowed to pull his hair?? He challenged for the ball so.he should be allowed to two feet off the floor?
No - a yellow would have been fair enough.

Obviously not. If you challenge for the ball using excessive force it’s classed as serious foul play, different to violent conduct.

I don’t think people are saying nothing should have happened to Keane. Unfortunately it’s a foul once he grabs the hair. But this does not automatically mean it’s a red card offence. It could be very easily deemed reckless, as there was not excessive force used, and a caution is issued. What is wrong with that outcome?

We’ve seen the most recent example prior to Keane, David Brooks escaped with a yellow card after a VAR review for a far more calculated hair pull when not challenging for the ball.

Just seen another player sent off for hair pulling,Luton player had dreadlocks, looked less of a hair pull than Keane’s. Just a thought should players with hair that long be forced to tie it up.
