I think the players we have this season are worse than last season's. Unreal after spending £100m.

Haven't replaced Lukaku yet. Nor have we replaced Barkley for that matter

So I agree, think we're way worse off atm.

We are still in pre-season mode and these two Europa League games were all about getting the result and progressing to the next round so sorry if it wasn't exciting enough for you bedwetters but it's a result a game and we got the required result tonight. I will expect far better showings once the season starts but as far as this round has gone, two words: Job done!

I think Lukaku's real replacement will be a change in our attacking system. We were far too reliant on him and need to spread it about a lot more.

We definitely need a physical, experienced striker with pace though.

Of course it'll get better. My point is that we need to get a defensive upgrade, a winger, a CF. and we need to improve on last season's decent performances, not just that pile of steaming dung.

I thought we looked lethargic but it is pre season and in cup games, well any game really, the result is what counts.
Delighted with the result but huge improvement needed fitness wise and in confidence I think.
I think the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Man U would have put these to bed long ago.

Imo, and it's safe to say over the years that I've proven time and time again I know nothing, the type of player we missed most of all is one we have within the club.

When you play against teams like that, I've always thought that you need to cause disruption to those banks of midfield and defenders. To do that, you need someone who can beat a man but do it in the middle of the pitch. Once that's done, someone else has to remove themselves from their fixed position and it can have a rippling effect.

We've got one of the best of those in the league, on his day.

Unfortunately he wants a new challenge.

Real shame. We will miss Ross the Boss.

Mate, Barkley, Dowell and Lukaku are about 200% better than any forward minded player we have in the first team squad. One has gone, one is going, the other is being punted into the Chumpionship.

Go figure.
