If you watch the video, I suspect what kicks it off is the assault with the intent to resist arrest, which is an offence under the Offences Against the Persons Act.

The officer will have to face the music for his actions, and this won't mitigate it, but in terms of what ifs... if it is a lawful arrest and they had complied?
what were they doing? arresting him for resisting arrest? which part comes first? what were they doing there initially?

The initial report released by Sky News and whatnot says the police were called to a reported assault in the car park between two parties.

Now, just conjecture, but if they had reasonable suspicion they have committed a crime or were to detained for a prompt investigation, they have to comply.

The law is clear on that, which is why the use of reasonable force to conduct an arrest is part of the power provided to a constable and/or member of the public.

Lets not lose sight of the facts.
Said the other day have done C and R Police and Prison standard, its worse than i originally thought. The officer is on his own with the kick and stamp, his employer will him hang him out to dry , there is no legal justification, once the lad is on the ground he is incapacitated should have been restrained arrested charged etc. Now he will get a big fat check in compensation.

Of course this is on the back of Baid review into Police standards, shocking pandemic of poor policing. Day of reckoning for British police is incoming.

Well, that plan went south rather quickly in this case didn't it. A potential situation was enflamed by utter belligerence on both sides, yet the side accountable to their training and experience went way above the call of duty.

'Do as we say, not as we do'. This is the core of why the police are so devastatingly hated, untrusted, and unsupported.

I coughed a link to that a few pages back, I am currently not prepared to trawl through it and drag up the names and events of victims that have been forcibly made to suffer. I'm simply to disgusted.

Aye, the beating women up is fine, but giving it back to the rat beating the woman not fine has been quite a position to take.
when she is in a uniform she is an officer first, the law has specific articles in it relating to the assault of an officer. It is not a matter of female officers are more protected than male. Introducing that line of thought seeks to undermine the anti discriminatory nature of society and it's police.

No one should have hit anyone. I sincerely hope for the polices sake that one or more of these lads was up to no good in the minutes leading up to this event, because there'll be a powder keg of trouble goes off if it's mistaken identity. (or littering, or some karen doesn't like where he parked his car - for instance)
