Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hello everybody. Just catching up. Oh @Sassy Colombian I feel for you. I know however that you will make the right decision for your family. Glad you had a good holiday @Armaghtoffee Welcome home.

Came back from Liverpool this afternoon. Managed to see all three nephews and my great niece. She seems to be showing significant traits of autism but because she is so young (18 months) there isn't much that can be done at the moment as regards any kind of diagnosis. . Her Mum and Dad seem to be in denial at the moment - which I completely understand. However there is help available within the family. My brother's partner is a special educational needs teacher.

I nearly melted driving home. The air con in my car is rubbish. Came up the M6 which is much prettier than the M62/A1 route. I'm still in awe at how much of a difference dialysis has made to my Dad's health. It is like magic.

Here's to a good week for everyone x
My best mate has just had a daughter (twin) confirmed as being Autistic. In my working life I am currently employed in an DDA case concerning a man soon to be a pensioner.

On a holiday flights, a family with 2 kids had their ‘Autistic’ lanyards on to expedite the queues and that is a great initiative. Those kids engaged with me completely at the airport, very chatty and no barriers.

My best mate’s kid isn’t vocal but give her the alphabet blocks and she literally does it ABC or ZYX but always in perfect order.

My working life is a person who has me Googling words for meaning from his speech as it’s beyond my knowledge. I try to remember the word to Google yet while following the conversation.

Rightly or wrongly, for me, Autistic is just a big huge understood label.

Absolutely roasting up here today, off to a family bbq for my Grandaughter's 18th, can't believe it, she's grown up so quickly, she's also starting at St Andrews uni soon so as you can understand we're very proud of her.
She is full of too much cheek, I told her I'd take her to Glasgow for a few drinks and a meal she said as long as it was for cocktails and none of those old man pubs? youngsters eh!
Whilst at my eldest lad's I couldn't help noticing the incredible skyline.

Good afternoon friends.

It took me almost an hour to catch up to what has been happening with everyone the past few days. Glad to hear @Barnfred 55 made it safely back to sunny Cornwall and most importantly that you realize where home is, at least at the moment. @Gwladysover lovely pics as always, we don’t get tired of you sharing them so keep posting them. I’m sorry to read your grandson still is dealing with bullying, like Ange said, it seems the school needs to do a better job with their policies regarding bullying, they seem to have continued letting this happen without serious consequences to the perpetrators. @Terrarian it is good to read that you finally got a diagnosis after years of getting neglected, hopefully the treatment the doctors have laid out for it will help you and will be a step in a good direction to feeling a bit better mentally. @BornBlue76 i hope your lad had a good birthday celebration. My daughter is also starting middle school in August and she is super excited about the change. @anjelikaferrett sun burns are not fun whether you are a ginger or a tan Colombian, so I hope your daughter skin has improved. Loved the coal pics too! @blue1948 I was only able to cook the curry once before it got too hot for such dishes but I have it on my list of recipes for the fall and winter. Btw, your zucchini plant seems to be doing much better than mine, lucky you! Mine keep flowering but not zucchini is growing at all. My tomato plants and peppers are doing great though. @jazzy I was thinking about you this week as I was following the new Johnson lying spectacle, I’m sure you are happy to seeing him gone, but you are correct when stating he left the house burning. Now that it seems the race is packed with candidates, is any of them better than Johnson? And when do the people of the UK get to vote again for prime minister? I’m still confused on how you elect your leaders. @Armaghtoffee sounds like you are having a great time, thanks for all the love you sent us last week! @larbert toffee it seems you are not letting Fred get away with much, so keep up the good work. And happy 18th birthday to your granddaughter, may she have a great celebration and many more years around the sun. It seems @Methuselah still haven’t post since my absence. I hope all is well with you, sir. We missed your good stories that’s for sure. I’m sad to hear about @Toast ban, he was also very nice to me when I first joined the forum and Goat was not very kind. More than once he sent me a PM checking on me, or encouraging me to return to GOT thus it is sad that one slipped made him vulnerable to a ban. @[Deleted Member] sending some blue love back to you ?
@Sassy Colombian Have you tried pollinating them with a kid's paint brush ,I have had to do it this year with my tomatoes because they are under a perspex roof and we don't see any insects doing the job .

I would rather not having to have such worries, but unfortunately that’s our new reality so a contingency plan seems appropriate. We loved Costa Rica and would love to purchase a place there but unless you are a citizen it gets complicated to purchase property that you actually have rights over it. Same would be anywhere else. We love Europe but it would be difficult to move there or anywhere else as an immigrant. Having dual citizenship with Colombia though does give us an alternative, moreover it is my homeland and I do love my people. Other members of our family that also live in the US are also considering the same so we may all buy a big piece of land together. My dream is grow old in a farm at a place with warm weather in the mountains but near the ocean, Colombia has exactly those places so maybe that’s where we end up once we retire.
I fear for the American people with the crazy law on guns ,I think it is money talking as always .
I also want to say the timing is critical for your proposed move if you leave it too long you might be forced to leave your daughter behind as she will perhaps have met someone then.
I moved at 50 years old to a beautiful place but I feel I was lucky with the woman I love who helped me through the difficult times .If I were to consider it at pension age I might not make the same decision.
On the flip side "The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence " .Good luck with the future in Asheville.
You do know that Indian people eat curry in hot temperatures !!

One of my friends' son has autism and he is holding down a job ,thriving on Facebook and is generally a pleasure to be with . We had a neigbour in the last village ,her daughter was also autistic , she spoke three languages and was learning Arabic to speak with her new boyfriend .
We all have our problems it is just some are more obvious to others .

Chuffed for your dad and then of course you ,you can sense the relief in your posts and thanks for the photos ,I was able to show the glass house to my wife as another site to go if we ever get to Liverpool.

Good morning all on this beautiful day here in Hyvinkää. We had a bomber in Espoo quite close to where we used to live and it is very confusing as the Finns are not an aggressive race -they are proud that they have never invaded anywhere - it was another case of a troubled mind and he sadly died for his cause .
I watched some tennis last week and it was the first for many many years ,I was shocked at the behaviour of Nadal before each serve and whilst drinking on breaks ,he has OCD quite severely if last week was anything to go by.
Have a great week all .

I agree with you. It is a huge label covering many things. She doesn't speak at all at the.moment, making no attempt to speak and she seems to live in her own little bubble - doesn't interact with anybody. She's the same at nursery. Won't join in with anything and just wanders around all the time on her own.

Good morning all ..... I’ve been off grid in South Island New Zealand for 4 days ...no phone no internet ........ wonderful
I hope you’re all well I’ll read through tomorrow.....I’m just at Dunedin airport about to fly to Auckland
Hers a pic ....or two.......
Oops too large I’ll post tomorrow when I’m more awake
Lots of love to the mascoteers from Steve

Pardon my ignorance, do you have to pick off the male flowers like you do with cucumbers?
Well I didn't know you had to do that with cucumbers so who is the ignorant one ?? I don't I just gently brush around the centre of the flower .Now I have to identify the male flowers and pick them off !!! I was also reading about strawberry chutney this morning as we have a glut this year so that could be next on my list ,they say it is nice on tacos .
