Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I would rather not having to have such worries, but unfortunately that’s our new reality so a contingency plan seems appropriate. We loved Costa Rica and would love to purchase a place there but unless you are a citizen it gets complicated to purchase property that you actually have rights over it. Same would be anywhere else. We love Europe but it would be difficult to move there or anywhere else as an immigrant. Having dual citizenship with Colombia though does give us an alternative, moreover it is my homeland and I do love my people. Other members of our family that also live in the US are also considering the same so we may all buy a big piece of land together. My dream is grow old in a farm at a place with warm weather in the mountains but near the ocean, Colombia has exactly those places so maybe that’s where we end up once we retire.
Having already moved from your own home to the States does make it easier to up sticks and move again. I mean the emotional attachment won’t be as strong for you really. Horrible to even have to contemplate it though due to anti-social issues.

Obviously respect Harry's privacy AT but it's great to know he's doing OK all the same. Shame I didn't make enquiries a little earlier as we could have caught up last week whilst i was up in Liverpool. As long as he didn't mind catching the dreaded lurghi from me. Probably just as well he's taking a bit of a break. Too many "H"s can get a bit confusing. lol

Are you back home now or still necking the sangia?
I’m home but taking another few days off work, maybe go back Thursday or Friday.

I am soon to be out for a few pints of the black stuff and the football. It’s funny though as everyone is commenting here about how warm it is whereas for us it is a blessed relief.

My husband and I wouldn’t have an issue relocating but for Sofia that would be the “end of the world” as Asheville is all she is known and she has formed very strong friendships with some of her friends, some of them who she has known since she was a baby, thus it would be traumatic for her to move anywhere else, and given my own experience moving to another country as a teenager, I know how challenging it can be so I would rather for her to finish high school in this area before we make any decision to relocate. But if the situation in the US were to deteriorate to the point we don’t longer feel safe living here, then we wont hesitate moving.

I get it Sassy, really do. I couldn’t bear the thought of moving my kids from what they know but I myself was born and raised here- how could I ever be objective really??

Hopefully Asheville have put a marker down here and things will stay as you know them. My plane reading last night had a chapter on the author’s neighbourhood being a decent place to be but one that gained notoriety overtime as the wrong people gained an influence (Compton). It can easily happen if not addressed by the authorities or the community.

I see my Forest game is confirmed for the Saturday so I am finally getting back to Goodison for the first time in 3 years ??.

Can’t wait. I can smell the hotdogs already.
I'm flying over for the the Forest game too. Think it's been 4/5 years since I've been to goodison. Two house moves, a wedding and covid all got in the way the last few years.

Nice one mate, see you there.

Quite fitting that we can discuss the surrender of the Messy thread to the Irish faction at the Old Lady herself.

I know you get it, AT. And me being one that has made such a move before, I know that while difficult one can adjust to such changes, but if possible I would like to continue calling Asheville home for Sofia’s sake and also because I am fond of our community. Our local government is a good one, as it is our community, so one hopes that the bomb threat becomes an isolated incident and our city never has to deal with a shooting tragedy ??

Roll with it Sassy, you have created a safe environment for her and don’t forget that x.

At times like this I always evoke my 50% Irish bloodline. ;)
In a very small world moment, while reclining ungracefully in a rubber ring on Siam Park lazy river, I fell into conversation with a scouser from Huyton.

I heard the accent and as we both slowly rotated past each other like orbiting planets I broke the ice with an ‘Up the Toffees’.

Our conversation was like communicating with the Space Station in that we had to wait for our trajectories to align but we had our moment.

Hello everybody. Just catching up. Oh @Sassy Colombian I feel for you. I know however that you will make the right decision for your family. Glad you had a good holiday @Armaghtoffee Welcome home.

Came back from Liverpool this afternoon. Managed to see all three nephews and my great niece. She seems to be showing significant traits of autism but because she is so young (18 months) there isn't much that can be done at the moment as regards any kind of diagnosis. . Her Mum and Dad seem to be in denial at the moment - which I completely understand. However there is help available within the family. My brother's partner is a special educational needs teacher.

I nearly melted driving home. The air con in my car is rubbish. Came up the M6 which is much prettier than the M62/A1 route. I'm still in awe at how much of a difference dialysis has made to my Dad's health. It is like magic.

Here's to a good week for everyone x
