Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all on this chilly one here -10° but getting warmer .I hope all are well and had a good night's rest . Not much happening here today just a nice stroll out for a few minutes oh and the wife is making salmon pasties after an elongated plea from me ,they are salmon and pudding rice inside with lemon pepper and few secret bits including dill for AT .Have a great day all COYB
P.S It was my first viewing of " Howard's way " and it left me dismayed .Thinking of what should have been .
Sounds delicious blue.

Here is a comparatively balmy -4° when you factor in the wind chill.

I have just had a request to get the mail ,600 metres away and now -12 ,by using the quad bike ! It was chilly but fun as the tyres are normal car summer tyres ,so I took it slow and now I am glowing sitting here .I missed another vital ingredient it is finely chopped boiled egg as the boss informed me . -4° is cold in the Emerald isle as it is also damp .
I must have posted that it was -12 ° here when I went back for my Mum's funeral but +5° made me shiver in Liverpool .
The lakes will now be freezing over here and that makes for much less humidity .

It’s like you have summoned the rain to make your point re the Emerald Isle. As I look out of the window, it is raining with a windchill of now -5°. Days like this I am delighted to have a home office with a coffee machine beside my desk.

Getting a quad bike to get the post is making me feel quite festive now I must admit. I’m also thinking a roaring fire to enjoy those fishcakes alongside.

Good morning all - it's a very snowy one here. I'm so glad for home working. The 35 mile round trip to Darlington across country roads is not something I miss on days like today. Here's a pic from earlier. View attachment 333704
When I lived in Everton my good neighbour called Fred -not that one - used to love to come with me visiting plant nurseries in the countryside because he could "see for more than a hundred yards " your photo reminded me of that .

Good morning all on this white one here .I hope all are well and had a peaceful night . We went shopping and being one for a bargain Lidl had a toaster and a kettle for 7.99€ each , the stainless looked nice ,when we got there they only had a light taupe colour but they looked good .When we got home they were two different colours and the water gauge on the kettle was under the handle and hard to see when you are holding it under the tap ! Who designs these ? Rant over so they are going back on Monday .
Have a great day all COYB
P.S. Not convinced by McTominay . Has no one mentioned it is a CF we need !

Morning all, no snow yet for us so close to the sea but I was caught in a heavy fall coming back from Elgin yesterday tea time. Then my brain and body were exhausted by a 7 hour session of a tribunal Iwas chairing for voluntary panel work I’m involved in . Having to make tough decisions about children’s lives while weighing up the vastly different views of family and social work was exhausting. Fortunately today I can reflect and think “ Yes , we did our best in a tough situation and that’s what we’re expected to do”

My BIL was a lawyer that did the same sort of cases ,I don't envy you as there are so many considerations .Well done that man .

It’s a different situation in Scotland for children u18 who are in need of care and protection as it’s a system based upon local, lay people making decisions . I believe the Family Court is similar in England. Our prime focus is making decisions in the best interest of the child, usually lawyers are representing adults and their focus is on representing them , hence often a conflict.

Credit to you taking on such an important role as that voluntarily. You must have a good way of processing your emotions and not letting them drag you down. Easier said than done.

I’ve been doing it for 23 years now, one of my colleagues often comments about Hearings we've both been on together, she remembers everything I remember very few, so I guess that’s how I process my emotions . Hope that doesn’t sound callous , some, like yesterday’s, remain in your memory.

That’s the best way to handle that type of work in my opinion. You are driven by the law and process rather than becoming emotionally distracted. You are still doing right by people because you can rationally weigh up the facts and only the facts.
