Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning Mascoteers.

Good to hear from @Barnfred 55 this am and that he is feeling slightly better.

Chucking it down at the moment but the forecast is better later on.

So, I think it will be a relaxing morning . Not been to the gym in 2 weeks , nor played table tennis due to a combination of looking after Rosie , loads of gardening and general lethargy . That's not altogether a bad thing as I like to give my ageing body a complete rest from training occasionally but it's now time to get back to it .

So the Everton takeover is floundering and we are seeing virtually no news on player recruitment so it's all looking a bit grim and depressing.

At least @fandjango is having a great time in Newcastle .

It could be worse I suppose you could be Tiernan Kelly and get a 24 week ban for fighting at the pitchside . Mind you being an Everton fan as well @Armaghtoffee must be getting used to losing players.

Increasingly worried about our old friend @Methuselah .

Anyway have a lovely weekend everyone.

Hi I'm @messymascot aka Karl. I was diagnosed with a cancer called mesothelioma in 2019 after nearly 10 years of illness. Unfortunately this is an incurable type of cancer which is caused by asbestos exposure. I'm now entering the final stages as the cancer has grown and is starting to cause complications. Anyone who regularly visits the mental illness and depression thread is probably aware of parts of this story.

Anyways onto the thread title. Several members who visit the above thread, which I can't endorse highly enough both the thread and the regular visitors, wanted to get together and get me a ticket for the match. This was very much appreciated by me but initially I wasn't sure due to my health. However in the meantime @Earwigjoe contacted the club. They then kindly offered to supply 2 complimentary tickets. The 2 tickets were confirmed with myself today and one of my fellow West Cumbrian blues has agreed to travel with me and utilise the other. I will try to remember to take some photos and post them in here but I'm not the best at that sort of thing.

I want to use this thread to highlight what a truly great club we support as it would have been easy for them just to let the lads and lasses pay for the tickets. But I especially want to thank all the people who regularly post in the mental illness thread as they are truly magnificent. I first starting using the thread 3 or 4 years ago when I was going through a tough patch but since then I have been in the thread on a regular basis and there is always someone in there who wants to support another blue who has fallen on hard times. The clubs gesture and the fans in that thread and this forum are what make me proud to be an Evertonian. I love you all even the ones I don't always agree with. COYB The best team we could ever support. I'm glad I was chosen even though being 40 I don't remember the glory days of the 80s.

Sorry if that went on a bit but I needed to get it off my chest.
I re-read Messy's original post fairly regularly. It makes me sad and inspired in equal measure.

I'd also like to postumously thank him for creating this thread and putting me in touch with so many of you that I sort of know but consider as friends.

Morning all. I did sleep pretty well last night given I had a lot of dozing during the day yesterday. And first signs this morning are that I don't feel quite as achey as yesterday and the headache isn't half as bad.

I was planning to visit Cal's and my brothers graves today but its a good 2 mile walk so I think I'll put it off until later in the week. I have plenty of down time in the mornings.

Thinking I might pop next door to Dobbies and have a bowl of soup later(my go to when I'm feeling poorly). At least I'm thinking about food which wasn't on my agenda at all yesterday. So hopefully this is just a bout of man flu, just a bit more severe than I'm used to as Blue said.
Glad you are feeling better but sad that you are poorly on your hols. Hope you continue to feel better. X

Morning all. It's quite sunny here today. No plans so will just see how it goes.
I'm not sad the takeover is floundering. Kenyon is well dodgy. Simon Jordan, who I either think is a complete tit or the most insightful person on the planet, was good about this subject. He said Kenyon is known for doing this. He 'kicks the tyres' sees what's available and then tries to get people interested. So the Americans were unlikely to be in place. He also tries to shave millions off the club value. Looks like the Everton board might have actually shown a bit of bottle and told him to do one. But we'll see.

@Armaghtoffee loved your post about hearing your auntie's voice. It's one of those that needed a heart emoji. I occasionally hear my Mum - usually telling me off for my choice of attire. An exasperated sigh accompanied by 'you're not wearing that for work are you?'' lol Home working has reduced her chance to voice an opinion! We had very different tastes so sometimes she also comes shopping with me. ' Jeans? At your age?'' Honestly I hear her so clearly.

Might watch a bit of cricket later but Le Tour is also on. I enjoy watching that, mostly to see the stunning French scenery.

Have a great day everyone. @Methuselah hope to hear from you soon. Wishing you well.

You might be dissapointed today Anj as Le Tour is still in Denmark. Pan flat day for the sprinters unless there are cross winds . Yeah I love cycling too!

Make you spot on about Jordan too. I think he's right on most football topics but unfortunately he comes across as a know it all and a prat. The last person I'd want to share a pint with.

Le Tour or cricket - tough choice!

TK is a good kid who I happen to know. Then again, Armagh is small and we all know each other.

A moment of madness but he will be back stronger from it.

Did he deserve such a lengthy ban ? You'd have to kill someone in football to be suspended for 6 months.
He was damned by the picture of it. Yes he meant to put his hand in his face but ‘eye gouge’ I don’t think so. We haven’t appealed it though which is sensible.

He’s only 22 and the pressure on him was a disgrace, even the Irish PM commented on it. Social media as always was a cesspit with keyboard warriors trying to have him thrown out of Uni etc.

Important to remember he’s an amateur.

What an ordeal for the poor boy. They say every picture tells a story but very often it’s the wrong one, things are not always what they seem and people are too quick to draw their own conclusions. Hope he is okay.?

TK has a great group around him both with his county and his club (Clann Eireann). He made a mistake, he apologised and will serve his ban now. Hopefully that’s the end of it for him and the vile people on social media move onto their next victim.

As an aside, Armagh took around 35k fans to Dublin for that match. Not bad for an amateur sport at all.

Morning all, Happy Canada Day to @Ducans elbow, bet Nora will be celebrating later lol . Glad you are feeling better @Barnfred 55, enjoy the soup. Day has started off on a bit of a downer here. We are dog sitting today and son and family just called in to drop them off. They were short of time so didn’t go into details but it turns out grandson was being bullied and hasn’t been to school for the last week and a half. He’s a very quiet boy, not laddish at all, prefers his own company or that of girls so I can’t say that I’m entirely surprised, just very, very sad.

It is not right him being bullied ,get him on a Judo course ,self defence not aggression .Love to see the bully being thrown to the floor by just being a bully .Unless it is psycho bullying and that must be stopped as it can last a long time .

Poor boy. Kids are ruthless at times. Hope the school sort it out and he can go back soon. How old is your grandson?
