Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Get yerself to Mulligans on Poolbeg street for a few pints of Beamish 😍 , it won’t be flooded in there.
I worked in the Department of Health opposite in the early noughties.

One Christmas, there was the usual meal for retired members of staff followed by a free bar in the canteen.

I was nursing a pretty grim pint of Guinness when the then Minister Micheál Martin appeared beside me. ' Do you want another?' he asked. I said 'actually Minister I think I'll go over to Mulligan's for a pint of Beamish'.
'Good idea. Mind if I join you?' replied our current Taoiseach.

A very pleasant evening followed 😎 drinking several pints of Beamish.

Nice anecdote but I cannot stand that man.

I'm fairly apolitical having served under Ministers who were FF, FG, Labour, DL, PD. My job was to implement Government policy, while advising on practicalities, in whichever Department I happened to be serving.

Politeness and mutual respect counted for far more than ideology. A sense of humor also goes a long way.

I personally disagree with various policies in all of the current parties but I still make a point of voting.

I do like however the slogan 'Don't vote! It only encourages them!!' 😅. I saw it many years ago on a bumper sticker.

Correct, Milford Everton was the originalag name. Milford is a townland just outside the City of Armagh itself and it is where the penalty kick was invented.

One of the original board of Everton was from Armagh.
William McCrum proposed the rule change and after initial scoffing by the great and good, it was adopted in 1891.

The original Milford played in Royal Blue Jersey, white shorts and R B socks.

Milford Everton were founded in 1964 and now, as Armagh City use black and blue striped jerseys black shorts and blue socks - similar to Inter Milan.

Incredibly moving!

To the few geniuses who criticized the priest for interrupting the Eucharist, they should take a look at themselves, and ask what Jesus would have done.

What a powerful and moving story, that poor man. Although I’m not in the slightest bit religious, I agree that is absolutely what Jesus would have done.

A proper Christian doing exactly what Jesus would have done. So lovely

Good morning all. Still grey and gloomy here. I can't wait to see some sunshine. I think we're ready for our trip. We went out for tea last night with Charlotte and Frankie. That was nice.
Oh my goodness Everton!!! I didn't see the match but 97th minute. Talk about leaving it late. I do think we are making progress, slowly but steadily and it's so nice to be thinking that we have an outside chance of Europe rather than having to be doing complex mental arithmetic to work out relegation places.
Have a good day all. X
