Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

That is where we differ AT I have tried just making a dent but to no avail ,what is it you want to watch ?
I have spent most of my morning watching The Greatest Story Ever Told. Since I sat down, my youngest has asked me to bring him out for lunch so I will happily do that. We both like the Darts so two Christmas dinners in the local is now the plan. I love having no work to do 😀

Morning all, seem to have hit a pre-Christmas dip which isn’t being helped by the weather which is very grey and gloomy (that’s me as well actually). A campaign against buying a pup for Christmas which popped up on the Twitter/X or whatever it calls itself these days has taken up residence on my mind as well which hasn’t helped. It’s made me feel so sad. Stupid really as it’s just a cartoon and some people have real problems. Take no notice of me, I thought if shared the thought it would somehow leave my mind if that’s making sense. Off to put the washing on so normal service will be resumed soon.
Have a good day, all.
P.S So sorry to be such a misery.
You’re not grey and gloomy you’re a lovely person. It’s hard not to be affected by what you see on social media these days, some things are harrowing. Also I think Christmas can made us feel down as well as up. Be nice to yourself when you’ve put the washing on. Sending a virtual hug xx

Good morning. Im currently in the nail salon in Darlington, waiting for my full set of acrylics to be applied. I reck9n a bit of glitter is in order for Christmas. The town centre is deserted- a bit sad really. I've just dropped Mr F off at the Darlington care home where his 100 year old auntie lives. We've bought her gin and a gift card!
Definitely is! I went for glitter and snowflakes- OTT me? Never 🎅😃

Hi folks, today we braved the shops to do the Christmas food shop. Bedlam doesn't even come close! However humans and the cat are now fully stocked up for the festivities. I am not going near a shop from now on. Tomorrow I have no responsibilities so I'm going to do my own thing - gym and swim in the morning, then get my nails done and maybe visit our local garden centre - just because! I've still got to wrap Mr F's presents but other than that I'm done. There is also the a very small matter of having to work on Christmas Eve.
Pleased to hear you're recovering after your op @Ducans elbow.
I also hope @Terrarian @peteblue and @Barnfred 55 are all doing OK.
I'm OK Anj. Would be better if it wasn't for this bloody cold which keeps reinventing itself. I was going to report in today anyway as I'm going to be out of commission for the next few days and will sadly miss Brett's Xmas eve escapades. Off with Peter to Truro Xmas market tomorrow then spending Christmas at his parents, returning some time on Boxing day. Rob asked me a couple of months ago and it's a big upheaval for them with people having to share beds to accommodate me and the house a bit of a building site. I don't like being a nuisance so I was planning to politely decline and, tbh, I need to get to spend Xmas on my own at some stage. It's the only "special day" I haven't now. But before I got to tell him he went and bought a whole Turkey. Which was basically for ne as I'm the only one who eats the dark meat.

Busy January lined up as I'm in Liverpool for 2 weeks and looks like a very busy schedule including anniversary of mum passing and 3 birthdays, including my sister's 80th, which is the primary reason for the trip. It's also Cal's birthday and I'm spending a couple of days with my BIL on the Wirral. I'm trying to persuade him to go to Barcelona fir a couple of days in February for my birthday but he hasn't taken the bait yet.

Anyway that's my news, such as it is. Hope everybody has an enjoyable festive period.💙💙

No rest for the wicked !
Ah blue although I’m busy I’m sure you and everyone realise that it’s Mrs bl who does all the “ heavy lifting “ , metaphorically , at Christmas . I keep trying to rein her in a bit as she does so much for friends who need her help , but it has caught up on her physically and emotionally at times. My last big role will be picking up the turkey early tomorrow.

Aren't you off to South Africa with your landlord soon or did I dream that Fred?

No you are right mate. They are taking a mini leg of one of the Queens world cruises, getting off at Cape Town, where they are staying until the end of March. They asked if I wanted to join them for a couple of weeks to coincide with my birthday, but before I'd even confirmed he got back to me to say that the people who owned the property where he's staying wanted a silly amount in service fees to cover the extra person, which I wasn't prepared to pay. I could probably get a decent hotel for half the cost.

One of the blokes I am coming home with, his cousin owns The White Star

Thanks for that, means a lot. I’ve had a word with myself and I’m back on track now.

I must have got the message telepathically, as I’ve got stuffing and gravy boxed off today and thought there was only one man to whom I wanted to relay the good news!!

Sobriety has added a spring to my organisational step this year. Getting up early tomorrow to drop the boys at their nanny’s, so my better half can finish wrapping and I can hit the gym, before getting back and cracking on with the rest of the prep.

I’ll miss the inappropriately early Christmas Day beers and the glass of red with dinner, but I’m feeling far too good otherwise to let temptation get the better of me before I hit my deadline.

Hope everyone else is well, or as well as can be expected in the case of those I know have had a rough time.

Merry Xmas finnish style as you will all no doubt remember we have it a day earlier because Santa needs to go delivering tonight .
I hope all are well and had a good night and hope Santa complains with the amount of gifts you all recieve ,have wonderful time if you are out on the booze .
We are of to the family grave later to lay spruce branches and candles as I sign of rememberance and love for the wife's parents and of appreciation from me for the way they reared her despite them having money not rich but well off , she is humble and grateful . COYB
