Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Cracking film but if it's a wet bank holiday Lawrence of Arabia is my go to movie .

Must admit though I'm looking forward to the City / Arsenal game on Sunday.

I am definitely not looking forward to the return of Everton to the PL fixture list.

@Barnfred 55 just back from Mowgli , Mrs J loved the treacle tamarind fries . They go fantastically with the Bhel puri which we didn't try last time but is magnificent.

Meeting was in the Liver Building ( no Moshiri didn't want to pick my brains!) and the 3 Graces were looking gorgeous but it was Baltic.

Also looking wonderful after what I presume is a clean up was India Buildings.

Now joining @anjelikaferrett in watching the IPL , well actually I'm about 100 miles away but you get my meaning.
I had a go at tamarind potatoes this week. I diced them before seasoning/spicing and roasting, then tossed them in a mixture of honey and tamarind concentrate. They were nice but I didn't quite capture the Mowgli taste sensation. I'll try them again but next time substitute treacle for the honey.

Happy Easter, Joyeux Pacques and whatever that is in Finnish.

Today has started brightly, not unlike ATs wonderful photo but it's forecast to go downhill weather wise from lunchtime.

Ah well me and Mrs J will take ourselves off to the local hostelry to get out of the rain and enjoy a yard of ale ( well maybe a pint of Guinness and a half of lager lol) before sharing a pizza with Barbie.

I desperately hope that Anj gets some good news about her son.

Well that's about it from me , no other news except I'm just about to finish a brilliant historical novel by Robert Harris called Act of Oblivion. It's based on the true story of the manhunt in New England of 2 of the Puritans involved in the death of Charles I. Although I like history I've never really been into historical drama but the pace and depth of knowledge and historical facts with which this is written make it a great read.

Anyway have a lovely Easter weekend everyone.
Read most of his books but not that one yet. Wouldn't be surprised if it get's made into a film or TV adaption like most of his other novels.

Good morning all. It looks like a very bright day today. We're setting off for Nottingham at dinner time. I need to see daughter before we go - she's a residential child care worker and has been at work for the last two days. She's back in again on Sunday so if we don't see her this morning it will be Monday before our paths cross. I need to ask her important stuff like what type of Easter egg ( yes I still buy them one - even at 26 and 30🤣) and does she want a roast dinner on Monday!
Son rang last night - he's booked an escape room tomorrow afternoon for us to do and also booked us into a teppenyaki restaurant. I have never experienced either and had to Google teppenyaki. I'm fully on best behaviour for meeting the inlaws, no leftie comments or political opinions. 🤣 We could talk footie but Newcastle play West Ham ( their team) on Saturday so that might be one to avoid as well.
Good Ftoday so the ingrained Catholic in me will not be eating meat. I still have an irrational fear of being struck by lightning should I transgress that rule.
Have a lovely day x
Prawn cocktail for lunch and fish and chips without the chips for tea;)

Enjoy the weekend Anj. If the restaurant is the type where they cook the food at your table, they are normally good fun but watch out when the chef is juggling his chopperlol

Hope your mum's OK mate. Enjoy Mowgli.
She's fine thanks Fred. Sat out in the sun enjoying a hot cross bun and cup of tea.

Mowgli was yesterday , you must keep up.

Interestingly there were a couple of Indian tourists on the next table (very posh from Delhi) , asked them if they enjoyed the food and if they thought it was authentic. "Very average" was their reply.

Most of the street food at Mowgli is South Indian or perhaps it's not as good as I thought.

To be fair my Goan fish curry was very chilli hot and excellent but Mrs Js Veggie tiffin box was ridiculously mild and dare I say it under spiced.

Indians tend to like their food really spicy hot compared with our tastes. I imagine they probably found it a bit bland. They mostly tend to be vegetarians too so if Mrs Js tiffin box is anything to go by......

Didn't we have the Goan fish curry when we went? It's that long ago I can't remember.

Happy Easter weekend guys. Had a quick look at this afternoons TV. Where's all the traditional Good Friday epics? Very disappointing. Hopefully Sky movies will have something worth watching.

In other news, went out with Michele for lunch yesterday and she told me she's decided to go back to Rob when the daughter returns from her trip to Dubai on Monday. Must admit I'm a bit surprised by this as when I had coffee with Rob on Wednesday he was pretty downbeat about things. I think 2 weeks looking after himself has made him re-evaluate things. Hope it works out for them. It's in Rob's hands really.

Weather is still absolutely wild down here. It's sunny at the moment but in the last 48 hours we've had 70mph winds, torrential downpours and incredible hail storms. Bodmin Moor's had some snowfall too. Hopefully the weather will improve when Spring begins on Sunday (I know technically it began last week but I always see it as when the clock goes forward).

Anyway, catch up later with G&T Friday. ;)
