Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

All credit to driving in that - I'm sure it comes with experienced, growing confidence and the right vehicle - but it wouldn't be something I'd envy.

I was saying over in the weather thread how over here it's a nightmare because people don't adapt their driving (well, braking) to the conditions.
Yes exactly ours is 4wd but the brakes are the same ! I used to have to drive for up to two hours each way -before the ploughs had been out and that was frightening but we are used to it and it is part of the test for Finns to drive in the snow and on an ice surface . We also ski and that is a great help in realising that you cannot stop the same .

Best player ever IMO. Thought he was past his best but the last 2 performances have been vintage Messi. The tournament as a whole I'm thinking Mbappe edges it so far, but let's hope that changes later.
Mbappe is a brilliant player with his youth, energy (err... pace) and skill, but is he as important to France as Messi is to Argentina? The latter's influence is huge.

I too thought he was past it, and in many ways he probably still is or at least compared to his previous glories, nevertheless look at his goals and assists.

Messi can be relatively quiet in a game and then has repeatedly stepped up and made the difference. For that, credit where credit is due!

Horses for courses, and all that. 4WD will be a massive help alongside suitable tyres and if necessary chains, but the experience and mentality is immeasurable.

If people were more patient and careful, the number of shunts wouldn't go up so much as it does.

France are a much better team than Argentina so agree he is not as crucial as Messi is to Argentina. But both players are very hard to stop when in the mood.

You need to factor in the excess and then the increase in payments if you are not allowed a claim (free) . The increase could last for five years before you get back to where you are now.

Anyone here know if it's worth claiming for a £500 bike on the house insurance? mine got nicked last night with a good D-lock.

the only saving grace is i don't need to cycle to the train station for work until at least Feb

fuming
I guess it depends on what your excess is and how much your policy might go up - although you can always shop around for good deals when the time comes to renew. Also will they replace the bike, new for old or just give you cash.

Thought I'd tag the OP in just in case he missed it. :)

I agree by the way.

As @anjelikaferrett said, it will recommend on your excess and how much the claim will impact on your renewal. Ask them what the projected increase will be.

I'd be surprised if your combined mandatory and voluntary excess is below £250-350, so if your renewal goes up too, then it may be better to fork out.

Sometimes, the decent providers won't put up premiums for a smaller claim and will maintain it for a grace period - e.g. you don't claim again soon.

Did your bike have any permanent markings (indelible ink, registered etc.) on it? If it does, let them know. If it doesn't, do it on your next one.

This may actually reduce the claim as it's more likely to be found and can ensure future premiums don't go up. Sadly, they use angle grinders these days to get them.

Just had a call from the neighbours inviting me around for Christmas lunch. Wasn't sure if they would this year as they are going to have a full house. The brother has arrived back from South Africa and is planning to stay until the end of January, and no doubt their 3 daughters will all be visiting over Christmas. So there could be 10 or more for dinner. I was half planning doing my own Christmas lunch. I've always fancied curry on Christmas day for some reason.:)

Hi all. Thick white frost here today, it looks gorgeous but it's freezing. I've seen that the north west is having heavy snowfalls - hope you are all OK. I'm a bit worried about my Dad going for his dialysis this afternoon. Hopefully my brother will take him so he doesn't have to drive.

Glad you are going to your neighbours @Barnfred 55 I wouldn't like you to be on your own and they sound like a good crowd so you'll probably have a laugh.

It's just me and Mr F today - daughter has taken her boyfriend to watch Middlesbrough as one of his Christmas presents and then they are going to a pub to watch the England game. They have also booked a hotel so they can both drink once they get to the pub. Daughter is not really a footie fan so is less than impressed with having to watch two matches in one day!

I hope Conor Coady gets some match time. Unlikely I know but it must be rubbish not being involved in the actual matches.
Enjoy your day everybody x
