I’m Colombian so nudity for me is natural, normal, and you already know that about me, so I have to be very careful not getting in trouble when going to the beach as there states that could arrest me for just wearing a thong bikini. It really is absurd, guns are okay but a thong bikini is too much for society to deal with :Blink:

A few years ago pre pandemic Mr F and I went to Ibiza for a holiday. We were in A quiet part of the island in a hotel run by a lovely Italian family. We would go to the beach every morning and more often than not would encounter a group of elderly Spaniards, all completely naked enjoying the beach and the sea, Seriously, I don't think there was one of them under 75. They would greet us with a cheery 'Hola' as we walked past. I loved their attitude and the fact that they were completely comfortable in their own skin.

So glad your hard work is being recognised - I hope it will be equally recognised in your pay packet! lol

I probably be like those Spaniards when in my 70s ?

Thanks, Ange. Me too! Unfortunately when it comes to the pay that hasn’t worked as well as I hope. When I got this FT position the salary sounded very appealing. It is the largest salary I have been awarded during my career in higher education. However, given my new salary bumped our family into a new income rate then we no longer qualified for healthcare subsidies and while the college pays for my health insurance, it doesn’t for Sofia or the hubby so we went from paying $250 per month on health insurance on the free market, to paying $650 plus dental another $100 plus vision another $80 so almost a third of my monthly salary is going towards health, vision and dental care. Then as a public employee I’ll actually be given a pension but I have to contribute 24% of my annual salary towards it. That’s in addition to paying for social security, a percentage of gross wages that employees must pay to fund the federal program. Then because I’m supposedly making more money then I’m paying more taxes so after all these deductions I’m only making $600 more than when I was working PT, which is quite rubbish. But at least I do have great vacation and sick day benefits, and I do love my job. But as you know, being a public servant is not kind to the pocket.

In the uk some people get more benefits not working than earning potential working

It just makes a mockery of the whole system

Is there promotion potential in your role?

The US healthcare system along with insurance companies are a mockery, there is nothing right about a family spending almost a third of one’s salary paying for health insurance. It bothers me tremendously specially because we are all pretty healthy at the moment and we only go to the doctor usually just for our annual physical.

No on my current role unfortunately there isn’t. But tbh my aim is to hopefully get my supervisor’s position one day after she retires, she is 61 so I’m thinking in 3-4 years. She is the director of admissions and enrollment services, I can see myself doing that job too :)

Hello friends. Been having a lazy afternoon, but like Ange I made it to the gym early this morning and then sun bathed it for a while. Now we are about to get ready to go for a bike ride and then this evening we are going to go to see an outside production of Shakespear’s a Midsummer Night’s Dream, we are bringing a picnic and some cider to have along while watching the play. It should be fun.

I didn’t realize Everton was playing tomorrow. I hope we do better than the last two matches so we can get some enthusiasm going before the beginning of the season.

@jazzy best of luck with all that gravel and like many have said, take it easy on your back, better to take longer than risk an injury.

Thanks! It was indeed ace! We ended up going for a walk to the botanical gardens instead of the bike ride but it was perfect. The play was great too, my daughter and her friend really enjoyed it, they laughed so much and were entertained the whole time. They made the comment that the English was different, thus it was hard to for them to understand everything but that they had loved it ?

Here in Finland nudity is common but only normally within the family group ,as in going to the sauna and swimming afterwards ,of course with the children until puberty .Then we always sunbathe naked -no photos - as there is just the two of us and we have no neighbours and often walk around with just flip flops on . There is a film that was made by a Finnsih woman on the sauna culture and they are all naked ,she said she made it to show there are all different sizes and shapes of people .
