Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning folks. My virus appears to be going away. However I spent a chunk of time on the phone to 111 ( non emergency medical number) persuading them that I did not need to visit A and E. Unbelievably my painkiller phobia came true - but with the wrong painkiller. I started displaying extremely uncommon, like 1 in 10,000, side effects to ibuprofen. I'll spare you the gory details. Followed the instructions- don't take any more, call 111, and spoke to a lovely lady who asked loads of questions none of which I could fully answer because I can't tell if it is the virus or the drugs causing it. Anyway feel much better so now I'm a) p*ssed off because I might have been better quicker without ibuprofen and b) completely vindicated about my dislike of painkillers. Seriously you couldn't make this sh*t up. I'm now thinking back to my experience with COVID last August which was probably the last time I took ibuprofen and/or paracetamol and I'm wondering if some of my symptoms were drug related rather than COVID related but never bothered to read the leaflets.

One positive to take away. I've lost 12lbs since Sunday!

I've just read that The Charrity Commission are opening an enquiry into the management of Capt Tom's fund. I never did like that daughter of his. She seemed to enjoy the limelight a little too much. And as for taking that poor old man to Barbados in the middle of a pandemic seemed to be a very bizarre decision.
Glad to hear you are feeling better even with the mixup with the meds.

Totally agree re Capt Tom's daughter - loves publicity . Interesringly I think he has another daughter and you never hear from her.

Good morning lovely people!

Just got back from the gym. Today one of my workout friends is turning 85 so I managed to take a shot of them all. I introduce you my workout crew for my early mornings at the YMCA :)

Tomorrow is grandma’s Grinstead funeral so we’ll be traveling to Gastonia a town about an hour and 45 minutes from Asheville to gather with the family to say our goodbyes. We decided with the hubby to wait a few days before bringing up my ring request, but I also don’t want to wait too long as I feel now that grandma is gone, this is the right time to push for this request. But as we have been exchanging messages about heirlooms, it came to mind that during a visit grandma had given me the King James Version of the Hebrew Greek Study Bible to keep. After getting it I placed it on our library shelf and yesterday after reading @Gwladysover it came to me that I also had this item of her and began looking over it and found various magazines and newspaper clippings of poems, prayers, articles and at the very back of it she had taped and noted she wanted this read at her memorial service.

I have asked my husband to ask his mum if I can do so. It would be an honor doing so and I know she will be happy if it were me or my husband the ones reading this at her memorial. And while I hope I get the emerald ring as a heirloom for Sofia and down generations. Having this study bible with this handwriting request is a family heirloom with great sentimental value. So I’m happy we have it.

@anjelikaferrett I’m glad to read you are feeling better. @jazzy I hope the rain stops so you can get your yard work completed before Fred gets there. Hope all goes well with Rosie getting her stitches removed. @Barnfred 55 nothing is under straightforward in this life but at least you are retired and can go with the flow so continue enjoying your vacation. @Terrarian i hope the sun is shining your way today so you can continue exploring paths never walk with Daisy. @Armaghtoffee sorry to hear about your roses, may the torrential rains stop so your other blooms can blossom, pics when that’s happens, please. @Gwladysover thanks for enlighten me about my other heirloom with your own bible story. Any fun plans with the grandkids today? @blue1948 i hope the humidity decreases, here in Asheville it has been storming a lot this week too and the humidity has been way too high. Btw, in my opinion Russia gave NATO no option and that’s why they have take the measurements and make the statements they have this week. Russia is huge threat to NATO and the world that we must stand up to. @Methuselah we miss you, thinking of you! @fandjango cómo va tu arte amigo? @blue to the bone how is your summer going? And when is the Clare playing again? And btw I want to know the truth about your wives lol @Spadge Vernacular how is your garden coming along? @Dunc's elbow hope the doggy is not to hangover ;)

I hope everyone’s afternoon goes well. Xxx

We did explore more today, can't believe I never knew of these fields being accessible, we found loads of pathways and I reckon I will even be able to let her off. If it wasn't so wet this morning we'd have explored more but brilliant we now have a nice walk off the beaten path.

Hi everyone, hope you're all good.

Yes I'm very worried about M and Mrs M , not heard for some time.

Similarly @fandjango and @larbert toffee have been a bit quiet recently, hope you are both OK chaps.

So having asked for rain for the garden I now need it to stop so that I can get out and cut the grass before Fred's visit tomorrow. Sorry if that sounds contrarian but c'est moi !

Going to be busy around lunchtime on Friday as Rosie goes in to get her stitches out and I have to pick Frederick up from Ormskirk Station.

Hoping to spend the afternoon having a glass of vino or two in the garden with me and Fred putting the world to rights and talking about y'all so that's the reason if your ears are burning! Lol

OK have a wonderful day everyone and don't get too upset when Richy leaves the building. One thing for sure , it won't be as bad as when we sold Alan Ball to Arsenal.
I'm fine mate, thanks for asking just busy with so many things, watching from afar, hope everyone is okay Mr and Mrs Meths.

Its always a problem with social media when a long term poster doesnt turn up for a few weeks, and any contact details are ropey. I am pretty sure that we established that Messy was a member of a supporters club, so we contacted them iirc. If it wasnt him, it was certainly a long term poster who helped in the Depression Thread, whilst being ill himself.

Lovely to hear you are on the mend and that you have found the drug doing more harm than good ,I think the 12 pounds you lost might have gone to Scotland and on to @jazzy 's house but that is just jealousy talking .
