I think Moyes has actually picked the games in which to use him quite well.
He's an incredible runner, but seems limited with what he does with the ball. That being the cases he's been deployed twice in games where a lot of running was required.
I have issues around Moyes's use of some players this season, but non-issue at all with Moyes playing him against Villa and City - very specific tactical reasons for those choices and I'd probably choose to focus on that being a good thing.

I think at this point hes shown that hes clearly a good squad option at least. He definitely solidifies our midfield, a far better backup option than in years past, and I think worth the money. If you sign a top midfielder in the summer, hes the #4 CM and also capable of filling multiple spots.
