2025/26 Merlin Röhl

I owe a lot to him as a kid my late father worked continental shifts at the BICC - my older brother took me to a hell of a lot of games home & away - I am 71 soon - he is 78 soon -We have seen the glory years & the poor years - so I respect what his thoughts are on our beloved club .... I started going in 1962 season ....
Respect!

I thought the same yesterday, but as Rohl has talked up his own speed, I assume it’s more about fitness and sharpness at the moment. He seems like a good character and I can see good things in his game, so let’s just hope his fitness holds up and he can build that sharpness.
Hopefully just alot of missed placed passes , also liked that could play at rb had the football brain to play in that position. Could have been the position moyes asked to play him against sunderland feel like kdh. Playing him deeper in midfield could help him more, midfield looked a mess even armstrong thought had good game feel woukd have been better not being played as a cam. Getting kdh gana back ect would help him more and raise his game

Trying to think who's looked miles off it before. Simon Davies could at least run a bit and occasionally used his right foot. Not as bad as alexandersson, vdm was a headcase. Maybe needs a bit more time, Aznou came in earlier and has been used less. Stephen Hughes was miles off sadly. Who else in midfield that's been Championship level really?

John Oster, Gareth Farrelly, Tom Davies are a few sub-pl standard names I'd add. Nyarko too.

Obligation to purchase unless we get relegated ......
Maybe (if he plays a bit more and still doesn't look too handy) we would arrange a £15 million sale to a Bundesliga club and simply only lose £5 million on him. But let's face it, it doesn't look like he's a £15 million player now.

That having been said, he's hardly played, so it's not really fair to judge him yet especially given the state of the squad.

Still a baffling signing to me though.
