Apologies if this is a stupid question. Does anybody know, with the new ticketing rules. As a season ticket holder, if I can't attend a match, am I able to transfer/forward my ticket to a friend? And does that person need to be a Forever Blue member?

They need to pay to be a member to receive tickets, whether before a season starts or last game of the season.

And people wonder why the club are phasing out season ticket cards...

I am sure that there are fans on this forum that can remember the grey days when gates were below 15,000. When they used to advertise “get down to Goodison”
Jingle on the local radio.. Buying half season tickets. The club needs reminding of their fans back then, and have now become a tourist club, making up the numbers in the Premier League. Everton Football Club.

I'm a bit confused by your sentiment here.

You say the club needs reminding of the fans back then - but we were only getting 15k on the gates - so many of our fans, to some eyes, would not have been "loyal" as they weren't turning up. Like you, I remember even fairly recently (within the last 15-20 years) half season tickets being available. Our popularity (and that of the league in general) has increased hugely in recent years, despite us being about the same level we've been my entire life (I'm 37) - somewhere between relegation battles or the odd European campaign. So, demand has gone up hugely and outstrips supply.

So, who is it that needs rewarding? The 15k who were always there or those who have only started attending regularly in recent years? Or do you mean those who were on the season ticket waiting list yet, have been members for a while? Are you suggesting that only those with an L4 postcode can attend games? Or those with a long track record of attending matches? I'm asking a genuine question here as I don't understand who you want to see in the stadium / being allowed to buy match tickets.

All clubs have some tourist fans attending - I myself have been to football in other countries - but I do agree with other posters here that they cannot make the club a closed shop. Football in general is seeing the average age of match going fans increase year on year (I think it's mid to late forties now), not just because prices go up (which none of us want) but also because nobody gives up their season tickets, so the crowd risks ageing in unison. I think kids tickets should be more readily available, and cheaper, to encourage them to get used to attending the match, but if home games get to the point away games are (the same people going week in week out with nobody else able to get on the ladder), we risk losing out on new fans of any age.
