Vs Manu 1963 Charity Shield. Won 4-0 and the crowd chanting, 'we want 5'. Seemed so loud to an 8 year old.

Vs Borussia Monchengladbach 1970 penalty shoot out. Has always stuck in my mind, under the floodlights at Goodison.

Vs Bayern semi final an absolutely incredible game, and in our first European final to boot.

Having to watch and listen to BBC TV with the Wimbledon game. Couldn't settle and when 2-0 down well .... Then bouncing around the living room every time we scored. More so when Horne hit what turned out to be the saviour goal.

Got my first season ticket the season we finished 4th. The Carsley derby is the one that jumps out to me - I didn't go to the Utd game because I was out with my mates... what a bellend!

Fiorentina was insane, the atmosphere when Arteta scored... Unreal.

The Dan Gosling FA cup tie against the RS. I can hardly remember any of the game, but I can vividly remember Goslings shot going in in what seemed like slow motion. LIMBS

The winner for me though is the FA cup semi when Jags scored the winning penalty against UTD. Must have stayed in the ground for at least an hour after the game finished going mental. That's the closest feeling to what I'd imagine seeing us winning a trophy I've had.

Bit of a left field shout, the Bolton game when Arteta smashed in the winner with his left foot after cutting in from the right wing. Another amazing atmosphere

Glad to have been at most of these! However ( after Bayern obviously) will have to go with the united final in 95. Having missed the Watford final and being at the finals in 85, 86 and 89 I thought I would never see us win the FA cup. Must have had 20 pints during the day and night ( 8 before) was so nervous, remember thinking I could die a happy man knowing I had finally seen us win the cup final. Can't believe it is 21 years ago. The 8 year gap from 87 -95 seemed an eternity. Want to repeat that feeling with my 18 year old lad who has seen us win nowt.

It was the Saturday after the 0-0 away first leg to Bayern Munich and the brilliant run was just going on and on. But Luton were a decent team and had nothing to lose. We were very sluggish early on and took ages to get going. But that team had an exceptional mentality as well as loads of skill and on the rare occasions like this that they struggled for form they could dig deep to find a way.....once we got going in last half hour driven on by Reid in particular and after they missed good chance for a second goal the momentum swung strongly our way...fans and players knew it. We still only needed one moment of magic to save the game and have a chance of extra time.

I knew we had a great run in the early part of the season which included the Sharp Anfield goal and Man United 5-0, but I have just had a look and am stunned at our run from Boxing Day 84 until the Forest game on May 11th when the title was already wrapped up.

That run is unbelievable!

How do the older fans feel about how our team back then was viewed these days? I don't feel like it gets the credit it deserves as that side seemed to have everything. Surely one of the greatest club sides ever for one season alone at least.

There was an article on 442 the other week, which had the 50 greatest sides ever and chose periods of about 3 seasons in some cases. I honestly don't know how they can try and claim that our side from 84 to 87 or 88 isn't worthy enough to be in that list lol.

Sums up the general attitude! We worked hard and eventually got a decent press and national profile singing on Wogan etc but there were no real media poster boys in the team that media could obsess with. Lineker only stayed a season 1986-87 and with no Europe we could not make our mark on international scene and no televised midweek European matches to build profile. Footy media gave us credit eventually but we faded quite quickly 1988-89 or so onwards (cup final that year though but everything was over shadowed by Hillsborough) and Arsenal came on scene very strong with media friendly George graham so that was that. That team should certainly be in a top 50!!!!

It's the Wimbledon game for me. You could say staying up on the final day against those yard dogs isn't much to celebrate we were dead and buried. The semi finals at villa park created a brilliant atmosphere with the massive holte end split in half. I wishave I could have been at the Andy king derby

If we'd had won at Oxford in 86 to give us 3 titles on the run that team would have been recognised as 1 of the greatest of all time. It's ironic that such a nothing little club is instrumental in 2 of the biggest moments in our modern history

Cos I'm old enough (!) I've been lucky enough to have been at most of the games mentioned! Bayern Munich at Goodison was an unbelievable night and as per the title of the thread quite possibly the Match of my Life - unbelievable noise from all four sides of the ground, what a game but what an atmosphere! One game that hasn't been mentioned is the West Brom game in 1970, to win the league at Goodison, I was 10 and was in the Upper Bullens with my Dad and can quite clearly remember the whole stand bouncing up and down when the second goal went in! Great memories of two games under the lights at Goodison!

I only have vague memories of the Bayern game so it is difficult to say that one.
Sharp at Anfield that season was memorable, as much for my brother getting punched in the face on the kop (friendly derby my ****).

For me it would be the Spurs semi in 95. We played them off the park that day with a brilliant team performance. Parkinson put in one of the finest midfield displays I have seen. My favourite cup run as an Evertonian.
