Good job our manager will have him properly scouted then and won’t even look at WhoScored.
I'd be stunned if Brands didn't take statistics into account at all in his decision making.

But yes he will have properly scouted him better than I have because I've apparently watched him play 7 or 8 times at least and can honestly not remember him besides a late goal from a corner against Spurs.

Also, I think this deal is off anyway.

It's one of those where he isn't that impressive stats wise, but Carlo Ancelotti looks close to approving this deal and that is enough for me.
I believe in Carlo but I am so far from trusting Everton with transfer dealings that even his presence makes me have doubts.

And they have dipped in form since then. I think its fair to say that is conclusive proof he is their best player and nobody can say otherwise.
I did see someone on Twitter ask why they were selling him when they haven't won since he got dropped from the team. Although there were far more Inter fans saying how happy they were to see him go. I don't put much stock in any of that fwiw.

Writing off a player with stats doesn't really work though.

It's a good way to find strengths and weaknesses, but you'll never convince anyone that we shouldn't buy a player that Carlo Ancelotti wants because he has 0.1 less dribbles per game than Morgan Schneiderlin.

For example Raul Jimenez is 28 years old and, before joining Wolves, had a goalscoring high of 7 league goals in a season (since coming to Europe). He's now one of the best strikers in the best league in the world.

I'm a huge stats man but there's a whole lot more to individual players than stats.

Also this season hes a bit part player, so maybe hes not taking as many chances as hes used to due to him not wanting to lose the ball.

As you say stats tell some stories, but never the whole picture.

I only brought up the dribble thing because someone said based on a highlight video that Vecino takes the ball forward all the time and I wanted to explain why that may not be the case.

I said in another post that I agree stats aren't everything but when they show something being not good in someone's performances the scouts should not ignore that but try to figure out why.

With Jimenez he only scored 8 goals his last year at Benfica which seems not great. But it doesn't take a lot of digging to figure out he had 7 assists which is good for a center forward and only played 1500 or so minutes. They reasoned that he would be better with more minutes and it has worked out.

With Vecino I find it hard to believe other factors are holding him down. He's playing for a great team with a world class manager. Surely he can perform there if he has it in him.
