Mass exodus of UK football journalists to American website 'The Atheletic'

Spent a lot of time making assumptions about journalists. Plenty of them are well regarded and write about important issues in major newspapers. It’s no one else’s fault if you want to insult journalists without looking for those of quality.
Pretty clear that I said that I've read quality journalism. Truth is its hard to find, yet there you go. Wrong again as you it's gore the evidence to suit your own presumptions.

Big fan of MacIntosh. He is actually a Southend United fan but does seem to have a soft spot for us. Also, I think he mainly only does podcasts for his own company now (Muddy Knees Media). Totally Football Show, Totally Football League show etc.

Jonathan Wilson is great as you mentioned. I like Michael Cox, Rafael Honigstein and Daniel Storey too. Bit of a trend here as they tend to be the guys that are on The Totally Football show often but I do think they are really good writers too.
I like them too. They don't get caught up in all the hype and cliche of most journos and are genuinely insightful. Macintosh is v funny too. I like Daniel Taylor, Sam Wallace, Sid Lowe and Tim Vickery too. They fall into the same category IMO.

Not a big fan of Ronay. He's a good writer but comes across as the typical arrogant "guardian liberal" type. He's less of a tit than Glendenning though.

I never really think of Glendenning as an actual football journalist weirdly. He's a pretty good foil on the podcasts but doesn't ever really offer any proper insight. I love Sid Lowe, so good. I'm a fan of Vickery too but Sid is my favourite ex-pat,

Andy Brassell and James Horncastle are brilliant too.

Sid Lowe's piece on Trippier and Atletico this morning was really good.

Are they likely to be friendly towards us?

Reading O’Keefe’s intro, it seems so.

“The first conversation I had about joining The Athletic started with one of its executives telling me Everton is a club that deserves more from journalism. More in-depth coverage, more story-telling, more attention, more love.”

One of the most positive Everton articles I've read in a long while

They sure know how to make a sales pitch for possible subscribers don't they?

This is sports journalism done right. Hope it sticks around. And hope you lads enjoy it. And if ESPN turns into a 24 hour sportscenter or Bill Simmons puts out a 4 hour pod because of it, I won’t complain.
